The location could not be beat. Right across from the Monistrary. The bells rang til 10, which concerned us. We thought maybe they went all night. Parking cost to stay onsite but is free for the hotels lot up the hill. Easy walk to free parking and it seems secure. Hotel condition? Picture a beatire hotel from the early 70s and then only use half the lights. Bed was ok. Pillows were too soft and didn't support your head, even when folded.

NO AIRCONDITIONING + NO HOT WATER+STENCH SMELL
We got to the room assigned to us and the Air Conditioning was not working at all. We were assigned to another room and again the Air Conditioning was not working, despite the fact that we were told on both occasions that they were previously working - when not sure, maybe last year!!! The front office clerk, Ugo, tried to convince us that they were working in the past, but unfortunately we do not live in the past. We were told that the Air Conditioning company was to come the next day to look at our 2nd room unit, that did not work and had to sleep with the windows wide open of which a small bird flew in the middle of the night....We left in the morning with the fan on in hopes that the Air Conditioning company would fix it and to our dismay, when we got back in, it smelled like a dead rat/fish rottened in the room....Again, for the 3rd time, we complained, it was 10:30PM and told that the hotel was full and when we persisted that we do not sleep in a room with that smell in it, they found us another room, the 3rd room in 1.5 days....I know Ugo, the front office clerk tried his best but not telling us the truth and accommodating us properly from the first time was disappointing. Apparently the owners of the hotel were there and never appeared once to explain it to us. OH, forgot to mention, that we also ran out of hot water in the 3rd room they gave us . Not recommendable to say the least....

The staff was GREAT. Our air conditioner in our room broke and they had us in a new room in short time. The breakfast on site was very good! There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance for dinner. It's a very clean and safe town. It's an older hotel but very clean.

I really felt scared with this booking.WE did not realize, that the hotel was in another city, even though we asked for Fatima. Hotels.com already had my credit card, but insisted to add a new one!? We also had to pay again on checking. I will have to check the credit card

Location and price not luxury
We stayed one night at the hotel as part of a longer trip. We chose this hotel because it is located across from the Monastery. There is a parking lot above the hotel with free parking or you can pay an extra 5 euros to park in the small garage next to the front door. The staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival. Our room was located on the back side of the hotel. It had a large window and small window that opened wide to let in the fresh air. The room was a good size and the bed fairly comfortable. The breakfast buffet the next morning had many choices - something for everyone. The hotel is very affordable, but don't expect luxury. The room we stayed in and the hotel itself were dated. Having said that, we understood what we had booked and had a pleasant stay.

Breakfast buffet was excellent. Wi-Fi was good. Town activities end at 8 P.M. The hotel caters to tour groups. The receptionist at check-in was dismissive about my claims that the directions to the hotel were inadequate. Drivers should approach the hotel and monastery from the south side of town. There is free parking nearby and covered parking at 5 euros at the hotel. We had a lovely view of the central plaza and monastery.

The bed was horrible and we had to ask for more pillows. You had to ask for a remote for the tv and the air conditioning. The staff was very nice and helpful though.

Fabulous view and location
We had a room with a fabulous view of the cathedral!! It was amazing. The check in was just fair, as the first gentleman wasn't too friendly. We had two rooms, with a balcony and view for $51USD, which included a lovely breakfast. It was an older room , with just a double bed, but the view and price made this a real gem!! We would definitely stay there again. Free parking.

An enjoyable overnight stay
Well located across from impressive cathedral, free parking next to hotel, comfortable but a bit old fashioned. Walking the surrounding town is a delight, especially the ceramic art works on display. Ate dinner around the corner at "Meat", a burger bar with a chef who knows what he is doing!

Our Stay at the Hotel Santa Maria
The Hotel Santa Maria was easy to find and the location was right opposite the monastery of Alcobaca, a UNESCO world heritage site. The staff was friendly and accommodating, answering all questions that I had. The food was fine and there were elevators.

Excellent location next to Alcobaca Monastery
A great base to explore Alcobaca Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is virtually next door. An easy stroll to the old town to explore it. Hotel is a bit old but well-kept, and staffed by friendly people. Parking is free, but getting to the reception/parking area is tricky for a first-timer, since the road curves and slopes.

Bad costumers service and false advertisement
We reserved a room for 4 people, with specific request for one double bed. We were also promised a room with a balcony. In reality, there were two single beds in one of the rooms and two sofa beds in the other. When we tried to argue for better conditions (we are four adults and throughout our stay we insisted on real beds and no sofa beds for comfort) we were treated with very poor and unpleasant costumers service. Although we purposefully checked the photos of the rooms, the receptionist refused to acknowledge the validity of the photos, telling us that there are no photos of this specific room on their web site at all...but no one could have guessed that while looking at the photos.
