"The vibe was so calm and relaxing. The breakfasts had a huge variety of food, and were tasty. The beds were less firm than usual Portuguese standards, but quite firm by UK standards. The pool was a delightful respite from daily life and as it was quiet, we often had the whole space to ourselves. The staff were lovely. The local town was a bit quiet, and developing in tourism. "Lovely hotel with 2 great pool areas,gym and small Spa. The in room bathtub was appreciated. Breakfast has plenty to choose From and all staff was very friendly. A plus for the purified water stations around the hotel. An Uber is only 6€ to the city center and is a must to visit. Jardim restaurant close by the hotel is a good,informal restaurant for fresh fish/meat. 2 suggestions for improvement at the hotel. 1)The Beach entrance is very Dark at night, some light/lamp here would be good to avoid guests tripping in the dark. 2)There is no music/surround speakers in the terrace of the lobby bar which would be pleasant before and after evening shows/entertainment. There were several evenings when we were 50-60 people at the terrace just sitting in silence but inside the lobby bar there is background music,so just adding some Terrace speakers would be awesome! Overall we had a great stay and would absolutely come back! Obrigada!"

Penina Hotel & Golf Resort

"Excellent Family holiday staying at Penina. Relaxing hotel with friendly helpful staff. Warm welcome on arrival with a glass of port and overview of the hotel. Really nice way to start our stay. Great facilities for kids and adults with tennis courts, jogging track, driving range, golf courses, large pool and multiple dining options. Played Championship course twice and enjoyed - greens, tees and fairways all in good order and great value for money. My son and I also had excellent golf lessons with Jose Lourenco - knowledgeable, friendly, genuine passion for what he does. All golf staff were excellent, really welcoming and friendly. Special shout out to Sandra, Carlos and Vasco. Excellent breakfast buffet and omelette station, the Italian restaurant, Cotton Clubhouse bar and the pool bar all good too. In all areas the service was very good and were brilliant with my sons (11 and 5) Great bonus having access to the Dunas beach club at Alvor beach with 50% discount on sun loungers and umbrella ( €10 for 1/2 day) and free towels, private beach bar also excellent. Easy 10 minute commute to Alvor, which is a really nice coastal town with cobbled streets, and an excellent range of restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in the area due to facilities, service and easy commute to Alvor. Thank you all at Penina!"
