Boone/Blowing Rock Cabin: Hot Tub, Mountain Views, Sleeps 8, Peaceful, Private

"The house is nice. It's located off of a pretty steep gravel road. It was just my husband and I in our Honda CRV and we made it fine. The location of the house is wonderful. Very peaceful and quiet. We saw some deer and even a black bear on the drive way on our last day! (Speaking of driveway, there is lots of poison ivy on the edge by the wooden fence.) Cleanliness of the house was fine. The AC works well. Comfortable furniture and bed in MB. The house itself is older, and has quite a bit of water damage on the inside around the windows and doors from previous rain storms. I'm not sure how comfortable it will be during the colder months. The kitchen is in need of some maintenance (ice maker broken, a cabinet door hanging on by a thread, oven thermostat way off, smelly washer). Clare was very responsive, though. When contacted about some of the issues, she responded quickly and was willing to take immediate action. The only thing we really wanted fixed was the hot tub that had cloudy water and slimy walls. She arranged for someone to come out the same morning, He replaced the water. He mentioned that there should be a bromine floater to keep the water sanitary, but didn't leave one...? We were hoping for an expansive view of the mountains/valley from the porch but the nearby trees take away most of that. The view is probably better in the winter and early spring. Despite all the things I listed we had a great time!"
Heritage Hill Cabins

"The Heritage Cabin was a very nice rental. Location was in the heart of Valle Crucis, close to Boone and Banner Elk. The cabin is furnished nicely, comfortable beds and beautiful porch overlooking the mountains. The only thing I wasn’t aware of was the fact that there was no WiFi in the cabin which made phone calls and internet difficult. Also many rather steep steps to get up to the cabin from parking area, so be aware of that. Otherwise it is a lovely cabin in the mountains."

"Our vacation was excellent. It was the perfect amount of space for a couple. Due to recent rain, the river sounds overrode the traffic sounds on HWY 105, which is right across the river. the downsides were the fire pit and the two paths down to the river need major attention. Everything is overgrown and made it very messy to get down to the river, including the steps on the path that need to be replaced or cleaned up. You can tell the fire pit hasn't been cleaned up in ages. It's obvious no one tends to the outside. The water pressure is terrible, so you can't really use the tub. By the time it fills, the water gets cold - literally. Bring extra towels as they provide and the washer is extremely moldy and stinky. All that said, it's a beautiful spot on the river and we enjoyed our stay."

"Our family had a great time at Owl’s Roost! While it is a steep drive up- the covered porch with the view was so worth it! We loved the convenience to Valle Crucis and the park! We also loved the downstairs play room playing all the old school nintendo games! Wayne was very prompt to answer any questions we had. Thank you for allowing us to stay!"
