About this property

1 Bed in Hawkshead (oc-lr154)

  • Embrace fell views and Lakeland walks in the stunning Lake District National Park with a stay in this romantic cottage for two, set just off the banks of Esthwaite Water. Surrounded by landscapes closely associated with William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, this splendid retreat enjoys scenery that inspired both timeless poetry and classic children's stories. Explore William Wordsworth's former school in Hawkshead (0.5 miles) or visit Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's much-loved home, across the water (3 miles). Hike to the summit of Claife Heights (4 miles) for a rewarding walk from Far Sawrey, admiring sweeping views across Lake Windermere, just 3 miles away. The lake itself is a natural hub of activity, offering cruises, water sports, and scenic walking routes. Other nearby beauty spots include Tarn Hows (3 miles), Coniston Water (3.5 miles) and the chocolate-box village of Skelwith Bridge (4.5 miles).

Compact yet thoughtfully arranged, this single-storey cottage provides the perfect base for two guests. After climbing five steps to enter the cottage, head into the open-plan living space, entering first into the well-equipped kitchen, flooded with natural light. The adjoining lounge features comfortable seating arranged around a Smart TV and wood burner, while large windows showcase the surrounding views. From here, move into the welcoming double bedroom, a bright and restful space dressed in pretty linens, and onwards to the shower room, perfect for freshening up after a day of adventure.

At the front of the property, a slate terrace enclosed by privacy-assuring fencing offers a peaceful outdoor space. A bistro set provides the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee or a light dinner in the late afternoon sunshine. Private parking for one car is also included.
