"The hotel was very clean. It is a few feet away from the free shuttle bus to and from the train station , Coimbra-1. We were pleasantly surprised to see the hotel right there when we exited the bus. We took the train to arrive and to depart and the shuttle makes it very easy, it has frequent trips. We enjoyed walking around, the hotel has an excellent location. Solar do Bacalhau is an excellent restaurant, right at the corner, it was one of our best dinners in Portugal. Fangas Maior is also highly recommended. We enjoyed a Fado show one evening and it was different from the Fado show/dinner we had in Lisbon. The university is wonderful, the tour needs to be booked ahead of time. The library is just unbelievable. "

"This is a grand old (1800) palace built by a king as a hunting lodge in the middle of a lush forest. If you want to enjoy a grand magical stay with service that makes one feel like they stayed in a kings palace of long ago this is it! We absolutely loved it. Had dinner in the hotel,Excellant. "
