Aragon Holiday Packages

Travel across northeastern Spain to find adventurous outdoor activities, historic architecture and a glimpse into the country’s past.

Pay a visit to Spain’s Aragon region to discover the diverse cultural and natural offerings of the former kingdom. Admire ancient churches, basilicas, palaces and Islamic-inspired architecture and embrace the great outdoors as you explore mountains, valleys, lakes and ski resorts.

The provincial capital, Zaragoza, sits on the banks of the Ebro River and is the perfect starting place for exploring the region. The ancient city has been shaped by numerous civilizations, including the Iberians, the Romans and the Moors. Evidence of their presence can be seen in the monuments, buildings and architectural styles they left behind.

Tour the Basilica of el Pilar, a monumental Baroque building with a history that goes back to the 1st century. A few footsteps away is the 12th-century Cathedral of San Salvador. Visit the Aljafería Palace, an 11th-century fortified Islamic palace. Step back in to the present with some local cuisine at one of the tapas bars of the El Tubo neighbourhood. Study the inhabitants at Acuario de Zaragoza, one of the largest aquariums in the world. It features species from five of the world's biggest rivers and has waterfalls cascading from its façades.

Look for the many examples of Mudéjar architecture as you explore the region. The style was influenced by the Islamic tradition and flourished throughout Aragon between the 12th and 17th centuries. Travel through the region to see the Santa María de Mediavilla Cathedral in Teruel and the Parish Church of Santa Tecla in Cervera de la Cañada.

Surrounding Aragon's towns, cities and villages are expansive areas of extraordinary beauty. Put on your hiking boots for treks through the Western Valleys Nature Park and Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. Climb up the Mallos de Riglos rock formations or go skiing at the resorts of Candanchú and Astún in the Aragon Valley during winter.

Aragon is situated in northeastern Spain and has good road and rail connections to the rest of the country. If you are coming from overseas, fly into Zaragoza's international airport to enjoy the region’s natural charms, beautiful architecture and fascinating towns and cities.
