Family wedding break
We stayed in Hognaston for a family wedding at Tissington Hall. The property is beautiful and about 15 minutes away so was perfect for our stay. The contact with the owners was very good and they always answered the queries I had. I would definitely stay here again.

I found and booked this cottage almost a year in advance for a first ever full family holiday. 7 adults and 4 children. Natasha was so helpful and kind in the lead up with questions that I had. The cottage surpassed our expectations. So clean and spacious. The children loved it! The area was stunning. We visited so many places. I'm definitely going back. I Recommend 100%!!Thank you so much.

The property was immaculately clean and in a wonderful location with Carsington on the doorstep, and Keddleston Hall and Ilam within easy reach. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable.

Lovely, comfortable cottage
Myself and 7 friends came to the cottage for 3 days over New Years and had a wonderful time. The cottage is really warm and welcoming and a great place to hunker down, play games, cook and go on walks. Unfortunately we had lots of rain but managed a short walk to the reservoir in the drizzle which was still very pleasant! The house is really well equipped, the showers are particularly nice. Do mind those ceilings as people have said! We had a few sore heads but only for people over 6ft. It’s all part of the charm of the cottage! Supermarkets and towns with shops are about a 15 min drive away, which we didn’t explore due to the weather and mostly being hungover! Hognaston itself is very remote, and quiet, but the villages only pub is two doors down which was very handy indeed. Beer selection was fine, (not a craft beer place) but food was excellent. We enjoyed two nights in there. All In all a lovely stay and I think the cottage is truly better than the pictures show!

Great Family Holiday
We had a really good week at Station Cottage, helped by unseasonably dry & mild October weather. Plenty of space upstairs & down. Beware of low ceilings! (We had a tall (6'4") person with us & he banged his head a few times - ouch!) Beds very comfy, showers perfect for post-cycling, lockable storage area ideal for keeping bikes secure. Kitchen very well-equipped. Friendly pub 2 doors away with well-kept beer & excellent food.

Wonderful cottage and area
A really good place to relax with the family. Having a nice pub 2 doors down the road where food is served is always nice. Natasha is a great host and was able to give us quick responses to any questions we had. We were able to drive to Alton Towers easily from here. Highly recommend

Lovely home in a charming village
Stayed with family to catch up and explore the area. The cottage had plenty of space, was well equipped and charming. The pub has excellent food, so we took advantage and ate their multiple times. Would highly recommend the cottage!

A lovely short break!
We had a fantastic short break here. There were 9 of us in total and Station Cottage had plenty of space for us all. It was clean, comfortable, full of character and located in a lovely village with great access to the Peak District. We would recommend a stay here. Thank you Richard and Natasha!

Great venue for an extended bike weekend
Property is located in the small village of Hognaston, pub two doors up serves real quality food and beer (four nights = four guest beers). Accommodation has generous living and was fully equipped, rooms all have very comfortable beds. Use of the garage to store bikes was invaluable and secure. Great location to cycle from, lots of routes from the door. 10min drive into Ashbourne or Matlock. Owners very responsive and prompt to requests for information. Having complimentary tea / coffee / biscuits and small beverage was lovely touch but the pint of milk in fridge was perfect. Would definitely return in the future, had a great stay. Thanks

Thank you Natasha for rescheduling our stay because of storm in February.The weather has been not in our favour but the cottage has more than compensated. It is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location…. We’ve had great time. We had some lovely walking in the pretty little village and some fab meals too.. the cottage was everything we had hoped for. The failure of the boiler was a totally unexpected event, and whilst we arranged a plumber to check the boiler on the same day that the problem was reported, unfortunately it was not possible to fix it. We agreed a refund with Jane for this issue. A new boiler is to be fitted early in the new year.

Clean, well equipped and ticked every box. Although there’s no drive we parked 3 cars with ease just outside the cottage. The Red Lion pub is also a must for food and a welcoming atmosphere.

Charming, well equipped, and on the edge of the dales.
A lovely cottage to stay in, clean spacious and well equipped. We had problems with mobile signals coming and going, as it does at home, which meant contact for a small issue we had, was compromised. All 5 of us thought the accommodation was 1st class, and we would definitely book again.

Everything about the cottage itself was perfect, however, the outside rubbish bin was full when we arrived and, as it was not the week for it to be emptied, by the time we left, it was truly overflowing and rubbish was piled up alongside.

We apologise for this, there is an ongoing issue in the Derbyshire Dales with the council missing rubbish collections. It is very hit and miss and it appears to be ongoing with as little as one collection a month. We are trying to stay on top of this but occasionally do not manage to as the housekeepers are not allowed to transport household waste, and we live down near Cheltenham so cannot always get up to the cottage. I was at the cottage on August 25th and I emptied and took away both the contents of the recycle bin and also of the standard grey household rubbish bin.

A great place for a group getaway!
A great getaway to celebrate finishing University. Rooms are well sized and house well equipped - though do note there are two toilets rather than the one listed, which we were glad to discover!! Photos don’t do it justice and we were all very happy with our stay. Plenty of parking space, but do bear in mind this is on street and you’ll need to drive for any amenities.

Lovely olde world cottage in a beautiful village setting. Very well equipped spacious and comfortable...(especially the beds) Only negatives for us were no garden , in need of new toilet seat in main bathroom and there were quite a few cobwebs...but overall a lovely relaxing stay

Fantastic cottage in a great rural location.
The cottage was a perfect size for our family of 5. It was spotlessly clean and had absolutely everything we needed. It was our first time visiting the Peak District and we weren’t disappointed. The Red Lion Pub next door but did great food.

Fantastic and peaceful cottage
We had a lovely stay in station cottage, it had everything we needed (and more) and made for a very comfortable stay. The sofa and the beds were super comfy and the showers were fantastic! The village is beautiful and so peaceful and I loved the sound of the church bells (not that loud). It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and it was easy and pretty quick to get to different parts of the Peak District, we went to Castleton, Bakewell, the Monsal Trail, Dovedale. (If WiFi is important, this wasn’t great, but we could get 3G in certain areas). We had a difficult, unfortunate check-in but this is not normally the case and was probably as the property had not been rented in months due to lockdowns; it was quickly rectified. The owner and housekeeper were super helpful and quick to respond to anything. Would recommend.

Lovely house in a quiet village
The house was fantastic, spotlessly clean, lots of rooms and room and had everything you could want. The village was quiet with just a pub two doors down that did nice food and a freindly atmosphere. The location was a few minutes from Cassington Waters and also a great base to explore the Peak District from. I did have one query about the property and that was answered quickly by the owner and manager. Overall, we were all very happy with our stay.

Nice break away with family and friends
Had a lovely relaxing stay, meeting up with friends. Property was very well equipped, clean and good location for nearby walks. The only thing I would mention would be the church bells ringing throughout the night which took a bit of getting used, but it’s certainly not an unpleasant sound. There was lots of useful information about the local areas and overall we found it to be a very well thought through cottage.

Super property, perfect for what we needed for a large family weekend away. Ideal location for thr Peak District, with lots to do in wet and rainy weather. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and family room great for relaxing (although the DVD player didn't load) We had a great long weekend stay and will definitely come again and recommend.
