"Great pub, great room, great food."

"Stayed during owners transition, that's why the kitchen served only breakfast and it was amazing! The same helpful staff. Short business stay, I visit a lot of hotels and I do appreciate smaller ones. Room had a nice design, comfortable bed and modern bathroom, all very clean and well kept."

"Quirky place to stay! Lovely big room for our family of four, in peaceful surroundings next to a ruined castle and 10 minutes from Hadrians Wall! Friendly staff and nice home cooked food for dinner and breakfast!"

"The staff were very helpful, the room clean and the bed comfortable."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we could have stayed longer. The food was very good, the room was large and clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again."

"Clean rooms Staff friendly and welcoming Breakfast was really good for price Lots of parking spaces"

"Clean, comfortable and friendly staff..."

"Great parking. We didn’t realise when we booked that the pub would shut at 8 pm on the Sunday which was disappointing but they gave us a key to enter the building and to come and go as we wanted. The bedroom was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice."

"Brilliant hotel"

"Nice hotel at great value. We had a 1 night stay with our dog and were very comfortable."

"Good for stop over"

"Such a neat location! Wish we could have stayed longer. It was a rushed overnight in transit between sights. The host was so kind. Appreciated the clean room and the breakfast options."

"Room was clean and tidy on arrival Staff went above and beyond very helpful nothing was to much Breakfast was amazing lots of choice whatever your taste and all the food that came out looked good liked the fact juice and pasties where available as well as tea/ coffee and toast. We took our dog and again the staff order water and happily gave him a sausage for his breakfast. A lovely hotel in centre of Britain definitely worth a stop over"

"Really nice stop on the way to Scotland, Best sleep in days!"

"We stayed for a night and everything was amazing. Friendly staff and a very spacious and clean room."

"We had a lovely stay at the Old Schoolhouse. Our room and bathroom were spacious. Our hosts had homemade treats for us each day (an oatmeal raisin cookie our first day and a piece of spice cake the next). Our breakfast was at a large table with the other guests. We loved talking to them, several of whom were walking the length of Hadrian's wall. The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. We would absolutely stay here again."

"Lovely stay, staff were great, lovely grounds and taproom. Restaurant was really nice too. Room was comfortable and clean."

"We are transiting through the area and this place is perfect for one night stay for our family of four adults."

"Decent sized double room with better than usual lighting! Really comfortable bed and good shower, albeit on the small side! Off road free parking is always a bonus and they do a full breakfast if required! Everyone very friendly!!"

"Fantastic wholesome stay, with extremely welcoming and friendly staff"
