"Alberico's house is simply enchanting and so is the hamlet of Ponzanello. You really feel like you're stepping back in time (except you have access to all the modern amenities which is great)! The location is perfect if you have a car, about a hour drive to Cinque Terre, plenty of vineyards and other medieval villages to visit in the surroundings."

Our family of four (14 year old boy and 13 year old girl) stayed here after touring all the major Italian cities and being squeezed into tiny hotel rooms with one bathroom to share during the week leading up to this. "Everything about the apartment is excellent and perfect. However, it is in a SUPER busy area! Maybe that's what you're looking for! Coffee across the street, groceries the next block, the bridge to all the sites just minutes away. And again, the apartment is excellent and perfect."

Beautiful and rustic

"This is a beautiful former monastery high up above Monterosso. You need to contact the hotel in advance to make a shuttle reservation and they will pick you up near the train station. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar. Most of the other guests were hikers from the trail between towns. We sat outside at sunset with a glass of wine, admiring the beautiful view. While there’s no Wi-Fi or AC in the rooms in the main building, it was very comfortable, clean and quiet. There were large windows we opened to let in the breeze. We stayed with our college age kids who loved the location."
