You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
5 Star Coachmans cottage. Built in the mid 18th Century.
The cottage was used to accommodate the coach and its driver, who served the Hutchinson family, who lived at Stranocum Hall. It is part of Stranocum Hall but is self contained.
The cottage fell into substantial disrepair until it was fully renovated by the current owners of Stranocum Hall. Set in the grounds of the Hall, Coachman's Cottage has a spacious and airy open plan living, dining and well equipped kitchen main area. The kitchen has a dishwasher, coffee machine, fridge with ample freezer compartment, microwave oven, induction hob and full-sized oven. There is also a log burner in the living area for those cosy evenings during the cooler months of the year, although the cottage is fully centrally heated and has underfloor heating in the bathrooms for extra comfort.
Each bedroom has its own ensuite and there is also a shower room on the ground floor. All bathrooms have heated towel rails as well as underfloor heating, and a complimentary welcome toiletry pack including body wash, shampoo and body lotion is provided. The twin beds in the second bedroom can be made into a super-king, should the need arise. A cot and other baby equipment can be provided by prior request.
There is a separate utility room with a washer dryer, ironing facilities and space to hang out drying clothes. No need to bring bottled water as the entire mains water is fitted with a comprehensive in line filtration system. Outside, there is a private patio and yard, which is exclusively available for use by guests.
The Dark Hedges are just two miles away. Other famous sites are also on the door step, including several locations used for filming Game of Thrones®, such as Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Ballintoy Harbour, Murlough Bay, Cushendun Caves and Downhill beach. The famous Royal Portrush Golf Course is a 20-minute drive away - excellent for those visitors to The 148th Open.
The owners enjoy meeting new people and will make every effort to ensure your stay is one to remember. There are 2 dogs living with the owners, however they are not allowed to roam free when there are guests staying.

Great character and location to explore the Antrim Coast.
This 1850’s Coachman’s Cottage on the Stranocum Hall property was a wonderful mix of history and modern. The hosts have added a lot of wonderful extras to make your stay enjoyable! Great spot to have access to all aspects of the Antrim Coast. You are 20 mins from everything! We would highly recommend this property and the amazing hosts!
The photos do not do the property justice, absolutely wonderful cottage and location. The hosts left a welcome pack of fruit, bread, milk, orange juice and biscuits which was very thoughtful. Easy to communicate with and had a wonderful stay. The location is 20 mins from the awesome Causeway Coast and we had a great time.
Very modern and quaint place in the Irish countryside. Host was very nice and accommodating. Nice and quiet, convenient to all attractions and towns. We love the hospitality of the Irish. The fridge and counter tops had some very nice essentials that you don’t get in other countries we visited. Beautiful area! I would book again in a minute.
We immediately felt at home! The hosts contacted us well in advance of our stay. They asked us for our preferences in regard to milk, coffee and other provisions. Location was convenient to many venues, but secluded enough to be a wonderful haven from hustle and bustle of city life. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed staying at the Coachmens Cottage. Beautiful, pleaceful place to stay. Everything was well thought out and immaculately clean. Great location for make trips to sites along the coast while avoiding coastal crowds. Homemade breakfast breads, fruits and cookies were a plus. Would love to visit again!! Homeowners were very responsive.
A perfect location for exploring all that Northern Ireland has to offer. The property was beyond what we expected and was equipped with everything we needed to make us feel at home and comfortable. Our host, Eileen, greeted us upon our arrival and made sure that the fridge and pantry were filled with all we needed for our breakfasts.
A place to return to when we are again in Ireland.
I cannot even put into words how warm and welcoming this VRBO felt. The guest house was beautifully crafted and put together. It didn’t seem like a cheap renovation at all. They put a lot of money and thought into the finishes of this home. Everything was so cozy and comfortable. I don’t think I’ve had a better experience staying at a VRBO.
We selected The Coachman's Cottage as our home away from home while we explored the attractions of County Antrim and we were not disappointed. The property is well located for visits to the usual attractions like the Causeway and Bushmills. It is also handy to the walking trails of the Glens of Antrim and especially The Dark Hedges! Everything was as promised in the detailed listing and accompanying photographs. We felt right at home during our stay. Thank you Eileen.
This was a great place to stay. We found it to be convenient to any number of places to go in Northern Ireland. It really clean, wonderful beds and bedrooms, with a spacious and well stocked kitchen. The host provided us with a number of amenities that made our stay delightful. Clear communications was also a standout. Overall we loved it.
Everything was perfect from the very beginning. Loved every bit of the cottage and property. The hosts went out of their way to be helpful to us. Will stay here anytime I come back
The word I would use as an overall for this property is amazing. Eileen was a brilliant host, she greeted us on our arrival and then left us to our holiday. Before arriving I did message her about certain things and she was very quick to respond. This was true when I messaged her whilst at the property with a question. The house is stunning, extremely well kept and clean. The in laws that stayed with us are clean freaks and they were over the moon. Eileen had stocked the shelves with the necessities such as coffee & tea plus bought us our milk of choice. The house is in a beautiful setting with lots of farm animals around. The journey up the long drive was a daily pleasure seeing the cows. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be near the north coast, so many great stops only up the road.
Beautiful cottage in a great location for drives around the causeway coast!
20 mins from ballycastle/ portrush/ giants causeway & only a short drive to dark hedges!
The property was immaculate & had everything you could need inside. Will definitely visit again!
We chose this property for its location for exploring the Antrim area and because it stood out as a historic building presented to modern standards. The cottage was very impressive and the owners went to great efforts to make us and our young daughter comfortable during our stay. The cottage is both modern and comfortable, particularly with the wood burner running.
It was the perfect stay for us, so we will certainly be recommending to friends and family, and hope to make a return visit some day.
