Our experience with Hotel Santa Caterina was extremely disappointing. On the morning of our scheduled check-in, the hotel cancelled our booking and arranged for us to stay at another hotel instead. Unfortunately, the replacement accommodation was nowhere near the standard of the Junior Suite we originally booked. The room was small, dark, damp, and had a strong unpleasant smell. While the hosts were friendly and did their best to make us comfortable, the room was not particularly clean and fell far short of our expectations. We also did not receive the breakfast buffet that had been included in our original booking. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of support from the staff at Hotel Santa Caterina. We were left to carry two large suitcases across town to the new accommodation ourselves. When we returned to the hotel to complain, our concerns were simply ignored, leaving my wife so upset that she left in tears. Adding insult to injury, we later discovered through that the alternative accommodation was advertised at a much lower rate. Despite this, we were offered neither a refund nor any form of compensation for the inconvenience and disruption. This experience completely spoiled the end of what had otherwise been a wonderful holiday. We cannot recommend Hotel Santa Caterina in any way.

The room was very clean, Breakfast was not great! There was very little choice, this was the 3rd hotel that I had stayed in during my trip and the worst Breakfast..you had to ask the member if staff for more coffee and it felt like you were imposing on them. The hotel itself is lovely but the area is very rough. Every cafe I went into advised me to put my bag in front of me and look out for pick pockets.

The check-in process was completely lacking. I stood outside for over an hour emailing calling and trying to get lit in the door. It says the front office is open, but you have to know how to get in the door. Apparently you have to use the keypad and click on one of the options that was available. But nowhere was that in the directions and the phone number to call the reception area was not taking phone calls and no one ever responded to my emails so I spent almost 2 hours standing outside until other people came along and let me in. Absolutely ridiculous!
