Warm welcome on arrival, comfortable base, visited Bude, Hartland Quay, Westward Ho. Dartington glassworks a bit of a highlight, along with those scones, cream and jam.

Lovely break with friends
This property was ideal for our annual get together (5 ladies). Three well appointed bedrooms, all en-suite. A very well equipped kitchen and warm and cosy with central heating and a log burner. Ideally placed for various walks and close to pubs for bar meals or Sunday roast. Kris made us very welcome and her gift of a gluten free cream tea was much appreciated. The whole was spotlessly clean. Thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The perfect family break.
A very comfortable home with stunning views of rolling hills and high-hedged lanes. We absolutely loved it here - thank you Kris and Pete for sharing your paddock - our morning coffee will never be the same! We explored the area on foot - walking along the coastal path. The coastline is so beautiful and the locals so friendly. We hope to return soon!

Perfect Easter break
Fabulous weekend spent at the barn. Firstly communication with Kris was spot on, quick to reply to messages and very helpful. The barn was exactly as listed, plenty of space for the 6 of us but very cosy too. It was just perfect, beautiful outside seating areas, a basket of logs for the woodburner and a very welcoming cream tea when we arrived. We had some lovely walks in the area, and visited the local pubs too, just perfect!

Happiness in Hartland
This property certainly had the wow factor. All 3 bedrooms were of an extremely generous size with en suites also of a very good size and all with a lovely rural outlook. The lounge and kitchen areas were similarly spacious and well equipped. There was a smaller games area with table football and pool and a well stocked cupboard with a variety of other games. Outside was a covered seated area as well as a table large enough to accommodate all 8 guests as well as a bbq. The outside area was secure which was important for guests with dogs. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and a nice touch was the scones, jam and cream left for us to have. We also thought having a television in all the bedrooms as well as the lounge was a thoughtful touch. Needless to say the whole family and dogs enjoyed a really wonderful stay.

Thank you for your kind host
Kris and Pete are very kind and helpful providing us with useful local information and suggestions. We have spent a great week there. The house is very children friendly and we are two families with four children under 5 year old. They had great fun running about in the garden. Kris has also brought us the beach toys for the children to play at beach. Speacial thanks to Kris that she offered help to search for the lost book and post me the chopsticks I left behind. Thank you very much!

Perfect countryside getaway
The website did not really tell the story properly. The property surpassed expectations (and they were quite high), there was a new covered outside seating area, and we were constantly entertained by the swallows, martins and sparrows, not to mention the birth of a calf just across the way. A little tricky to do the first couple of miles of any journey, but well worth that because of all the lovely places to visit in the area. And the fitter guests will have no trouble walking to Hartland with its pubs, small shops and post office. Altogether great.

The perfect stay
The property was the perfect place to stay, owned by the perfect hosts, in a beautiful tranquil part of the world. We had a small dog and a 15 month old granddaughter, and we could not have been made to feel more relaxed and at home by Kris and Pete the hosts. Thoroughly recommend this property. The upstairs bedrooms are stunning, and the downstairs bedroom was just what we needed with our dog who unfortunately hates being left on his own. The facilities at the property covered every eventuality we needed for the weather. A great job Kris and Pete.

We all had a lovely holiday here, the house was perfect for us, 5 adults and 2 young children. Plenty of room both inside and out for the girls to play, we arrived a little early but were made welcome and Kris had made us some yummy scones and gave us some nice jam and clotted cream as well. The house is in a very beautiful part of Devon , we went to some great beaches, don’t miss going to Welcombe beach which our 2 little ones thought was great. I would also recommend going to Hartland Abbey, the gardens are amazing and I should think they would be spectacular in the summer. If you are considering booking this house we would certainly recommend it!

Lovely, spacious holiday cottage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Parlour. There was plenty of space for a family of 5 and the small pool table and the outdoor space was a big hit with the kids. The cottage was situated in a small hamlet and was a lovely get away from our normal busy lives but had quick access to some beautiful beaches and coastal walks. There was certainly plenty to do in October, even when we had a few days when the weather wasn’t at its best. A beautiful part of the country and I would highly recommend the Parlour as a base. We felt very welcomed by the owners and we knew they were on hand next door if we did have any issues.

Fabulous stay, would recommend to anyone travelling to North Devon
We’ve just returned from a week away staying at the Parlour, which was nothing but brilliant. Mark and Lorraine have been in communication since we booked back in January. Mark met us on arrival and gave us some good recommendations (pubs, beaches and places to visit), which we were very grateful for as we were new to the area. The Parlour is in a fabulous location in easy access to some of the best sites in North Devon, as well as a short drive to Cornwall. Although the weather wasn’t as sunny as we would have liked, we still managed to enjoy the local beaches, as well as some slightly further afield for plenty of water sports! The Parlour itself was very spacious, it had everything you need and more! The rooms were very well decorated, and the children really enjoyed the football table. A great bonus to the parlour is the field across the road. A lovely bench with amazing views across the fields, as well as a trampoline which the children had a great time playing on. They even got to help collect the eggs from the chickens, which they loved. I would recommend the Parlour to anyone travelling to North Devon.

Beautiful rural location
The property is lovely with all amenities. We enjoyed the sun when it shined and the paddock and grassy areas were good for the dogs. We found the patio area and paddock to not be secure for our dogs- but we made a temporary adjustment to the gates to prevent the cockerpoos from escaping. Not a major problem if your dog doesn’t like chasing rabbits and pheasants! Good pubs/ restaurants and fish and chips a short drive- for takeaways it was a lot further (Bude or Bideford) but you can’t have everything. An awesome time was had by all.

Perfect family holiday
What a lovely place to stay. My family and I were desperate to escape to Devon for our traditional family summer holiday, albeit we were nervous due to covid but we couldn’t have felt safer, the place was extremely clean and the owner respected social distancing measures but was always on hand if we needed him. Had no issues whatsoever, host was polite, warm and welcoming. He even kindly allowed us to bring our portable hot spa. The area is stunning, my niece loved the trampoline and rope swings (and so did we ;) ) It was a home from home, comfy beds & fluffy towels. It was not far from the places we wanted to visit, lots to do nearby. We would love to come back next year. Thank you ever so much :)

Great place to stay.
We have just got back from saying in the Parlour and I have to say I didn’t want to come home. When we arrived there was a welcome pack waiting which we were really grateful for of eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, milk, butter and tea and coffee on the side. Obviously the kettle went on first! The Parlour was clean and tidy and even though there were 8 of us with 3 dogs there was still plenty of space. Each bedroom had an en suite which made life easier, although the deep roll top bath was a big hit for all. The boys enjoyed going on the trampoline and loved looking at the chickens in the field opposite. The Parlour is surrounded with fields and farming and it’s lovely to look out of the kitchen window and see the cows in the field or watch the sheep being herded as they go past the door. We live in the country but it’s still lovely to see it happening at your doorstep. Philham is only a couple of miles from the next village and only a few minutes drive to the beaches, there are many of them and the tide does come in very quickly, but they are beautiful and well kept. Hartland Quay is amazing to look out from. Mark and Lorraine were there if you needed them and left you to enjoy your holiday, but always had a wave or a very quick ‘hello’ if they saw you. Contact with Mark from the booking on line was easy and his replying was very quick. Thanks Mark and Lorraine we had a lovely time staying at the Parlour and we will be back some time in the future to visit all the places that we ran out of time to see.

Lovely holiday cottage
We have just returned from a week in the Parlour and are already looking to rebook! The cottage was spacious, clean and fully equipped with everything you could think of. Leaving sausages and bacon for breakfast was appreciated by the family. The bedrooms were clean and huge and it was very handy having en-suites in all, having a tv in each bedroom was nice and the children loved the games table! The children loved the field with the trampoline and tyre swings and made use of them every day. It was handy to take the dogs over and throw the ball around while the kids were playing. They also enjoyed visiting the chickens. Some easy walks from the cottage (or runs if you fancy some killer hills). We didn’t use the bbq but the courtyard was a lovely suntrap. The location is excellent for good beaches, Docton Mill is a nice few hours out with the waterfall walk. Hartland Abbey is a must, especially the Bluebell walk to the sea. Mark was very helpful when I needed something delivered urgently c/o his B&B. All in all a great holiday and the highlight for my daughter was the pink hoover!

Beautiful and stunning accommodation in a lovely quiet location.
This was the first time we had rented a house, to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday. There were 5 adults and 3 dogs. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely quiet and beautiful location surroundings the property. On entering there were fresh flowers in the window, and milk, bacon, sausages, eggs, cheese, butter and bread in the fridge ready for us. Which we felt was a lovely warm friendly touch to make us feel very welcome. As we explored the accommodation, we noticed how clean and well presented the property was, the towels were shaped like elephants heads, heating was on so lovely and warm. During the day it was so quiet no cars driving by, just maybe the odd tracker. In the evenings it was lovely to walk the dogs down the lane. I met Mark on the first day and he was very welcoming and friendly, and gave us information about places to visit, and were to eat. If your looking for a quiet place to escape the rat race, then this it it. We would 100% recommend the parlour to anybody. Mark once again thank you for a lovely time. Iain

Stunning and immaculate accommodation with a superb location.
We have just enjoyed our two week stay at the parlour and can say that the reviews we read were absolutely spot on. Mark and Lorraine deserve every one of those stars. We miss it already. It was a stunning property with huge bedrooms and everything we needed. The welcome pack was a lovely touch too with some provisions for when we arrived. Mark and Lorraine were lovely, there if we needed them, but left us to enjoy their holiday let. It was so peaceful with the paddock for our girls, 13 and 10, to run around and our 2 cockerpoos to have a play as well. We hope to go back again and would thoroughly recommend a visit. We took our slow cooker and wok with us but everything else we needed to self cater was there. We loved the kitchen and the open plan set up downstairs. It just had such a lovely feel to it. We enjoyed the log burner on one of the cooler evenings, used the charcoal bbq for a couple of meals while we were there too. We took coals with us. We visited lots of places; Westward Ho, Barnstaple, Bude, Sandymouth National Trust beach, The Big Sheep, Clovelly (which was only about 3 miles away and stunning) and many more places. Hartland is a lovely little village and the quay was well worth a visit. It was Hartland carnival while we were there and bless them they got soaked but everyone made every effort to enjoy it. There were some fabulous floats and everyone had a good time and we went down in the pouring rain to support them. Lol. We did a bit of shopping at the Atlantic Village retail outlet and had so many beach days with our girls, body boarding. We just had the best time. The weather had turned a bit cooler but we just loved our holiday and miss the comfort and welcme of the Parlour. Thank you so much to Mark and Lorraine, we couldn't recommend you enough and really do hope to make a repeat visit. We wish you every success for the future and keep doing what you are doing. Best wishes from the Smith Familiy. 😊

Well, what can we say, but thank you for a wonderful review and for all your positive feedback. You have highlighted all of the key parts of the cottage and the area, which will really help others when making a decision to book, I can't see why they would want to go anywhere else. Believe it or not, Lorraine and I stayed in the cottage for my birthday, it didn't make any sense to go anywhere else, so we enjoyed our own cottage, even though its next door! So glad you had a great stay and very much hoping you will return in the future. Thanks again for taking the time to write such a wonderful review, its really appreciated. All the best, Lorraine and Mark

Excellent holiday
We have just experienced a wonderful holiday on the Hartland peninsula where the 5 of us stayed in the self catering accommodation in Philham. On arrival we were immediately struck by the large size of the bedrooms and the overall cleanliness of the property. It was well appointed and the welcome breakfast pack was much appreciated. The owners, Mark and Lorraine, were very friendly and helpful. When we needed anything it was readily supplied. We used the BBQ twice and regularly made use of the outside seating area. It is in a very quiet village which was perfect for us. You do have to drive to pubs and restaurants but that was no problem. It is ideally located for some exhilarating coastal walks and Hartland Quay was undoubtedly our favourite place. The weather was kind to us and we had an excellent week in very comfortable accommodation. We would thoroughly recommend it.

Fantastic property, with fantastic owners and beautiful scenery!
My family and I had a one week holiday staying at The Parlour in Hartland Devon and found it to be a delightful property to stay in, plenty of space and very impressed with the en suites! Hosts are very helpful and live next door where they run a B&B so always on hand to help if need be. The location is extremely peaceful, ideal for unwinding and for exploring the North Devon and North Cornwall coastline. If you have teenagers, don't worry the wifi is very good and also plenty of games including a pool and football table and lots of DVDs and books to keep everyone entertained. Hartland village is approx 1 mile away with 2 shops which stock day to day goods and also a pub and fish and chip shop, a broader range of shops can be found at Bideford or Bude, both around 15 miles away. I would definitely stay here again if returning to area and would highly recommend it!!

Spacious,well equipped,quiet and in a lovely area.
This accommodation has plenty of room for all the family and suited older and younger family members. The bedrooms are amazing and each having an ensuite is a big bonus. There is plenty to do in the area but also peace and quiet and beautiful scenery. Mark made us very welcome. We had a good holiday here and would recommend it.

Lovely property, a real home away from home.
Philham Parlour was perfect for our stay. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast pack was a lovely touch. Plenty of space (we were a party of 6 adults and 3 dogs) and very comfortable. Beautiful part of Devon but a car is essential to visit all the nearby beaches ... Bude and Sandymouth were our favourites. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay again. Thank you Mark and Lorraine.
