The property itself was quite presentable. Although all of the doors stuck. There were lots of amenities at the property. I think a family of 4 with dogs might be a little cramped. The property is literally in the middle of nowhere, so a vehicle is a must. If the farmer had no dogs himself I would return. But the dogs howled & cried a lot because of separation & boredom. This actually upset me.The communication with the owner was very good.

We decided to go away for Christmas 2023 and wanted somewhere peaceful, comfortable and dog friendly, close to where the rest of our family were staying and preferably with enough ammenaties provided so that we could just relax and enjoy our stay. Grooms Cottage was exactly that and we honestly could not have asked for more. Everything from start to finish exceeded our expectations and couldn't have been more perfect for us. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and has everything you need and more!! The hosts have thought of everything, there's a welcome pack full of useful information you might need and instructions/manuals for all the appliances ect in the cottage so you never have to spend time wondering where anything is or how something works because it's all provided. Caroline (The Host) couldn't have been more accommodating, and we arrived to find, she had left us some wood for the fire, milk in the fridge, a basket of christmas goodies (mince pies, chocolates ect) and a lovely bottle of prosecco to go with it which I can honestly say was such a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. We all had a fabulous time at this very special place, (including our precious little dog, Max who was absolutely living his best life) and we would definately go back for more!

Great central base for exploring North Cornwall. Cottage had everything we needed. They had thought of everything. Perfect holiday location for those bringing their dogs. Great stay! Will definitely be back.

Great property, great location to explore Cornwall. Local beaches exceptional and access to fabulous coastal walks and Bodmin moor. We felt relaxed in this cosy barn conversion just wish it had been cold enough to light the wood burner. We would definitely go back and would recommend it

Our Higher Trgwane experience
Very quiet relaxing location in a comfortable corrage. If you are not accustomed to driving through very narrow winding lanes it could be a bit challenging getting there but definitely worth it. Very informative folder of places to visit also provided.

Stunning barn in a beautiful farm, absolutely 100 % percent perfect. We didn't want to leave and our dog who is well fussy absolutely settled in straight away. Looking at dates to come back as im missing it already and only left this morning. Xxx

Grooms Cottage
A nice sized place. Bedrooms are small but only needed for sleeping. The farm can be a bit noisy at times but it’s kind of comforting. You do need to travel to shops and pubs but there are things about 5 miles away. Had a really nice few days stay.

Nice little property on a lovely friendly farm. Superb for dogs with their own dog friendly paddock. Plenty of outdoor space for bikes and kit. Living room /kitchen well equipped and comfortable. Double bedroom quite a squeeze for two people with luggage An enjoyable stay

Lovely relaxing retreat
Super farm to relax on. The huge paddock is wonderful for the dogs and the accommodation is excellent for animals as the floors can be easily wiped over to eradicate muddy paws!

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was very well appointed and very cosy. It was ideal for our dogs. Only downside was accessability for us. We had a camper van and I hated the little steep country lane that i had to use everyday. But i managed.

Perfect first time stay in cornwall
Exactly what we needed for our first stay in cornwall. Fab for dog families our pug Skye loved the exercise area & secure garden. Loved that the cottage had all the essentials. Highly recommend :)

Lovely cottage
We enjoyed our stay overall. I think the heating may need looking at as the bathroom radiator bangs and rattles. Also there should be a key to the upstairs door to the balcony as it’s unsettling for guests to leave the property unsecured. I understand it’s a rural area but for peace of mind there should be a locking door. Saying that the property is lovely and very well equipped.

We have fallen in love with Cornwall, the beautiful beaches and countryside were spectacular and we will definitely be back. However the cottage, although very well equipped, clean etc. Not having anyone to meet you on arrival or even at all all week to check everything was 'ok' was a little disappointing. There was no welcome basket that was mentioned as a wonderful surprise by many other guests, although this could of been down to covid which we understand. The farm dogs were lovely when we learned they were, but on the initial greet, the small Jack Russell chased my lab to the exit of the farm, thank goodness the gate was shut as it was at times left open. My son got very upset that he would lose her and the barking did even startle me as we hadn't received any introduction of who they belonged to or if they were indeed friendly. When we had to go on the hunt for the dog shower it felt wrong trespassing around someone's hung up washing. All could of been rectified if anyone could of just quickly greeted us and showed us where the basics were. Unfortunately the only dealings we had with one lady was her shouting at my husband out of her window when our rather playful young lab bolted over to her lambs to play which he apologised profusely for. All in all, we did have a lovely stay and the cottage was a great place for dogs. But it would have been perfect if a few points that Ive mentioned above were addressed. Mr and Mrs Ross

Unfortunately it is not always possible to greet guests in person as we live 45 minutes away. Mrs Ross phoned me to ask where the dog shower was and I described how to find it. Welcome baskets are provided to guests who stay for 7 nights or longer; these guests were having a short break so were provided with tea, milk and biscuits. Rachel who lives in the adjacent farmhouse is always very welcoming and helpful where the guests are concerned. Higher Tregawne cottages are in the heart of a working livestock farm therefore we provide a secure exercise area for guests’ dogs where they can be let off the lead. Dogs must however be under control outside the exercise area which means on a lead if recall is an issue.

Great little modern cottage, just what we needed for myself, wife and dog. It was well equipped, quiet with good links to local beaches and attractions. Check in was very easy and we were left in peace until we checked out. I wouold definitely recommend.

Amazing cosy stay
A lovely spacious yet cosy cottage in a beautiful setting. Very well equipped and nothing was too much to ask. We took our three dogs for a break and they really settled and enjoyed it. Great enclosed space to front and rear with a lovely enclosed dog walk area around the lake. We could have easily moved in - thank you for a lovely stay. We are looking to return soon

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, clean and well equipped cottage. Dogs enjoyed their holiday too. Caroline was very helpful and helped my husband find a good mechanic to fix a fault with his car. Ideal situation where you can appreciate beautiful rural Cornwall and its stunning beaches

Grooms Cottage Summer 2020
We had a superb week at Grooms Cottage. A lovely cottage, it is well appointed with everything we needed. The welcome basket was a lovely touch.The dogs loved running around the exercise area. We spent time on the balcony in the evenings looking at the stars and listening to the owls. It is a dark and quiet area but the cows do let you know they are near. With the cottage situated where it is, access to all areas of Cornwall was easy. The information pack was also very helpful. Thank you John and Caroline for a very enjoyable week. The Staffords.

Really enjoyed the few days we spent at the property. Very clean and had everything we needed. Couldn’t believe how quiet the location was considering we were on a farm. Very friendly people . Good location and although a few narrow roads to navigate it didn’t take long to get to our destinations . Although WiFi signals are not great you can get a service on the balcony . Overall very pleased and extremely good value. Recommend it and will go back.

A return visit says it all!
We really love Grooms Cottage - it is so homely and ideal for our family dog, Willow. It’s equipped with everything you need and is so conveniently located for many fantastic Cornish beaches and attractions. We will be back again.

Not what we had hoped for
The location was beautiful. The upstairs (lounge and kitchen) were lovely. Unfortunately this was ruined however as the duvets and pillows were stained and mouldy. After speaking to Caroline on the phone we were advised to use alternative bedding in the cupboard which on checking were also stained. No follow-up call from her to check if everything was ok and we were happy. No welcome basket. We were really looking forward to staying here but unfortunately we were very disappointed. It is unfortunate as this could be a wonderful place to stay if it were not for these issues.

On the farm
