9/10 Wonderful! (7,581 reviews)
The breakfast was excellent, good variety and very polite staff that kept it constantly topped up. The hotel also had a grab and go which had coffee, food and snacks until 10 at night. The location made it easy to get around. It was walkable to pier 39 , fisherman’s wharf sign and lots more . There was a tram stop and 2 bus stops nearby. Bus 28 takes you to the bridge and then you can get back on and go to the park.
Our room was on a cross road which made it very noisy at night, loud cars constantly driving up and down, the tram and lots of other noise which of course isn’t the hotels fault , it’s just because it is so near to the front. There are quite a lot of homeless in the city and they are often around the fire pits at the hotel but we never had a problem with them.

9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,474 reviews)
I stayed at the Clift for 8 nights due to a family members surgery at UCSF. The hotel is clean and recently remodeled. The room was rather spartan for the price. Two queens, one desk/chair and a “chaise” that wasn’t quite a sofa. A small refrigerator but no microwave. Adequate but hardly luxurious. The bed was comfortable with the standard feather duvet and several pillows. Overall the physical aspect of the hotel was fine. Not amazing, but nice.
Staffing is one area that could use improvement. The front desk clerks were cool and uninterested in doing anything other than the required. First day I asked the front desk young man if he could recommend a good restaurant for dinner. He looked at me and said “ They’re all around here”. Wow. So helpful.
Since I had to add days onto my reservation several times ( my check out being delayed due to ill family members) I interacted with at least 4 different desk clerks. None called me by name. None thanked me for staying with them. For a hotel that charges $350+ a night they should train their front line employees to be personable and friendly. Maybe remember the name of the guest that is staying for a week??
Frederick’s is the cafe that is open for breakfast until noon. Good food, limited menu. Staff was pleasant but you line up and order, take a number and they bring your food. For this ‘service’ they automatically add the gratuity to your bill. There are no lunch options as the cafe closes at noon.

8.8/10 Excellent! (3,427 reviews)
"Excellent location, charming early 1900’s classic vibe, very clean, cozy and the staff are really extra nice. We’ll definitely be back. Close public parking garage for $38/day if you don’t need the car or $43/day if you need in/out parking. This is much less than typical downtown SF hotel valet parking. ..."
