Unable to travel

We were unable to travel due to flight cancellations and short spring break days off. I work in an elementary school and my daughter is a second grader. We emailed the host who mentioned possibly being able to get our money back. Is this something we could get assistance with looking into? Even if we can get back one day's worth, it would be helpful to ease the financial burden.
