Churston Court/ Manor is a rare gem. You are immediately struck by the sense of history as you walk in and feel invited to experience the property as it used to be hundreds of years ago.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming, with nothing being too much trouble. My only constructive feedback (and I’m having to nitpick as we loved our stay and would come again!) is to review how they cook fish. My cod dinner was slightly undercooked whereas my breakfast smoked haddock was overdone. But otherwise all other meals were outstanding. And our room was just fantastic!!!
Churston Manor is a great place to stay if you like old, quirky buildings full of character and history. The staff are warm and friendly often going out of their way to assist you. The property is both clean and tidy but it does need some staff training, investment and TLC. My partner and I enjoyed the food at the manor especially the breakfast but sometimes the cooked breakfast was not very warm. We would certainly go back again and recommend it to family and friends because it is a lovely old rambling building full of charm. If you like modern 5 star hotels with all usual trappings then Churston Manor MAY not be for you. It is well placed geographically for Brixham, Dartmouth and Paignton etc.. The food and bar prices are within the normal parameters of similar establishments within the Torbay area.
I loved the history of the property and how well they have tried to keep it to the original style that was about back in the 13-1400's. Everything was easily accessible and i cannot fault this place.
We stayed two nights in the superior queen suite , with 4 poster bed , room was comfortable and warm , the bed was very big , and very comfortable , the staff were friendly and helpful , it is an old property , but is well loved and well looked after , we loved it and would definetley stay again , we live locally , and have only recently discovered the manor , and we really like it , it is an historic building , …...
Nice quiet location, 1 mile from Brixham. Excellent staff, always helpful, though the hotel was understaffed and service at both the Bar and restaurant was slow (especially breakfast). Thoroughly recommended though, and ability to take dogs a big bonus.
Nice facility! A historic manor house rather than strictly a hotel with service to match. My only complaint, which was a bit nit picking, was that it could have been improved by being a little better heated.

Nice setting but srarting to look a little tired. Josh and Monica are pillars of the hotel.
Interesting building, not sure how much of the original structure is left, has been altered many times over the years, not very sympathetically, decor looks rather tired, worn carpets with holes in places. My very small room had a four poster bed, not appropriate for the size of the room, it had the most uncomfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on, and only one useable pillow, was also far too hot, managed to turn off radiator in bed room but the one in the bathroom remained resolutely hot. On the plus side, the staff were pleasant and happy to allow dogs in most areas.
Very disappointed with our”superior” room which was very small and cramped and generally uncomfortable . Four poster bed very noisy and no dressing table. The bathroom was good.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, lovely breakfast, good evening meal choices. Nice and quiet. Good location for Dartmouth, Brixham and Paignton. Only 10 minute walk to Dartmouth Steam Railway(Churston station). 10 minute walk to Elberry Cove (across the golf course).
Fab 7’ wide four poster bed, cast iron bath biggest ive ever seen could hold a small horse! Ultra modern walk in shower, probably the most impressive en,suite weve ever had.
All rooms fully in keeping with the building, on ground floor several huge castle fire places, suits of armour and weapons everywhere taking you back the 980 yrs. its been there.
Food and service was very good altho a couple of full english were too cool, quickly corrected.
We and our dog felt very welcome, our luggage was carried upstairs for us on arrival unasked.
There was a huge car park and gardens to relax in
Its well used by locals inc weddings and funerels etc.
A most enjoyable 5 nights on a last min. booking at a very reasonable price.
Recommended.
Excellent location, excellent venue.
Downside: having to queue for service at the bar on Sunday and having to ask for various items (bowls, bread, sauce, orange, etc during our 3 breakfast mornings - 1 more member of staff would resolve the problem
One meal not up to standard - raised the issue with a member of staff - complaint expertly dealt with
A Lovely Hotel, with a very historic decor, perfectly situated for our short trip.
Helpful & Friendly Staff.
Clean & Tidy Rooms
Great food and an amazing Gin selection!
Dog friendly too!
Enjoyed one night at this hotel, lovely feeling and ambience, woman who checked us in, i think she was called lucy, was very friendly and showed me two rooms to choose from, havent had that before. Breakfast lovely, only downside was that the quiz night was cancelled which we were looking forward to. Lovely building.
Great country pub/hotel to stay at and easy to get around to other places. Sunday lunch carvery was very good value.

Full of character with friendly staff
I booked four rooms for long weekend with family. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately two of the rooms had problems with hot water 🚿.
The menu is not extensive so became a little monotonous.
For two days there was no white bread available at breakfast, staff were very apologetic.
The hotel is pet friendly and convenient.
The rooms and on suites are clean and beds are soft
