About this property

1 Bed in Morwenstow (oc-j28166)

  • This beautifully converted barn, close to the magnificent North Cornwall coast and overlooking rolling countryside, is perfect for a couple seeking a peaceful retreat. The sea and spectacular views along the South West Coast Path are within 3 miles, and two local pubs and shop are just over a mile distant. Historic Morwenstow and Bude, famous for glorious golden sands are both within easy distance.

One of two barn conversions on site, this splendid holiday home has a wonderfully light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. An exposed stone wall and beams in the vaulted ceiling are a backdrop to the stylish contemporary interior, with a sleek kitchen and leather sofa. The cosy dining area adjoins French doors opening to the patio. A colour theme of grey and white continues in the gorgeous king-size bedroom, with a super en-suite bathroom and a separate waterfall shower. Outside, the enclosed patio with country views houses seating, loungers and a BBQ for outdoor dining.

Visit the fine parish church in nearby Morwenstow, known for its long-serving and eccentric 19th-century vicar, the Reverend Hawker. The cleric used timbers from shipwrecks on this wild coast to construct Hawker’s Hut, now the smallest building in the care of the National Trust. After a breezy walk along the rugged cliffs, drop into the 13th-century pub for a reviving brew. Bude (5 miles) is a magnet for surfers drawn to its Atlantic rollers, but for a quieter swim, head for calmer waters in the famous sea pool on Summerleaze Beach. Hire canoes, kayaks and pedalo for a gentle trip down the historic Bude Canal or go for a stroll or bike ride along the towpath. The Castle Bude has a fascinating heritage centre, along with exhibitions, galleries and a cafe. For an evening drink or meal, visit the local pubs, The London Inn or The New Inn (1.3 miles).
