About this property
Bay Cottage, a section of Ebbingford Manor, 850 yr old manor house by beach&town
Bay Cottage is a section of Ebbingford Manor. It dates back some 850 years, once opened to the public, this manor now offers a delightfully romantic & interesting self-catering holiday let. Bay Cottage is the first door you come to as you come up Ebbingfords' driveway, with its own off road parking space near to its front door. You enter straight into the living/dining room, a vaulted ceiling with a sky light makes this a lovely light room. It's walls combine beautiful old stone with wood panelling, a trait throughout this old manor. The Living/Dining room has a small oak dining table with two chairs; a sofa; wood burner; TV, CD/Radio with USB/Bluetooth& WiFi available.. The bedroom has a kingsize bed, a small wardrobe with 3 drawers and further storage space under the bed. The kitchen has gas cooker, washing machine & microwave. The bathroom has a shower over a corner bath and toilet. The whole property is on the ground floor and only about 500ft total with gas central heating. Bed linen and towels supplied. Garden with table & two chairs. Dogs are allowed, for small/medium breeds only due to size of accommodation. The garden adjoins the rest of the manors grounds, so not secure for dogs to roam freely. Located in the centre of town, Ebbingford is little known even in Bude, set quietly back in a secluded area, tucked away from the westerly winds under the lee of Efford Down, making it a wonderful sun trap on those clear days. Plenty to explore with coastal walks, sandy beaches, golf, fishing, surfing and swimming right on your doorstep. Plus Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow just 30 minute drives a. Pub approx 100metres away, shop 200 metres & beach 400 metres.

The cottage was perfect for our stay. Ideal for two, cosy and provided everything we needed. A great location to access the town, beaches and canal. The hosts were very friendly and happy to assist when needed. A great place and highly recommended.
This was the third year in a row we've stopped at this property, it is in a superb location and is well suited for exploring the area, my only slight criticism is the property is a bit tired,
Best of both worlds - secluded yet close to Town and Beach
Charming and characterful, quirky and comfortable property ideal for a couple and a well behaved dog! - perfect location for Bude Town amenities yet quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle, own parking area a big plus, lovely owners and friendly people throughout our stay
Wonderful cottage, spotlessly clean in a wonderful location close to beach and amenities, friendly hosts ,can't fault it,already booked for next year, can't wait
For a person holidaying alone, this was great. I loved the closeness to the town and the beach. And many other beautiful destinations within easy reach.
The cottage had all I needed and was ideal for a cosy autumn stay. A real gem.
Bay cottage was small but clean, lighting could have been brighter in all areas and a safety handle for getting out of the shower would be good.
The position of the cottage was great for visiting Bude, a short walk to town and beach and to local pub for eating out.
We enjoyed our stay at Bay Cottage and would consider using again.
Perfect holiday space for two people. Ideal location and private parking spot within grounds and just a short walk to the town centre. In short, everything we hope for when we book accommodation!Very happy customers!Just a footnote for any future visitors, Life's a Beach, the Olive Tree (-amazing Ploughmans) and La Bocca are the pick of the local eateries...All three outstanding.
My second stay was as good as the first! The cottage is well-equipped, very clean and within easy walking distance of the beach, canal and town centre. The Wi-Fi works perfectly as does the tv, cooker, hot water etc. A designated parking place is a real bonus for a town like Bude as is the outside space with table and chairs.
My Wife & I had a fabulous stay in the Bay Cottage. For two people it has ample space to sit & relax after a long day exploring Glorious Bude & the surrounding area, whilst also enjoying 7 nights of peaceful sleep.
Once you enter the drive to your own dedicated parking space you cannot believe you're only a 5 minute stroll from the nearest pub, the Brendon Arms, the Falcon Hotel & only 10 mins into the centre of town. When we return we would most definitely look at booking this accomodation again.
Bay Cottage is just right for our stays when down visiting family nearby. Easy access to the beach, canal and town centre. Parking away from the main road, and safe.
Sounds of the birds waking you in the morning confirms this oasis of peace, despite the town location. Large grounds giving plenty of space to walk your dogs last thing at night.
Owners in easy reach and happy to sort any problems with a smile.
Bay Cottage is ideal for 2 adults & a dog, comfortable bed, dinning area & sofa perfect size, everything you could need in the kitchen & bathroom a good size with shower over bath + parking. Ideal location just a stroll from beach, canal, coastal walks & town. The setting is just beautiful with lovely, well-kept grounds, really couldn't have asked for anything better. Would definately stay again & wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Perfect!
Had a lovely stay at Bay Cottage with our dogs. Fantastic location. A quick 5 minute walk into the centre of Bude. A pub within walking distance. The hosts were onsite and available if required. Just feel the woodwork in the bathroom and kitchen could do with some tlc. Apart from that, the cottage is fine for a week away.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The main thing for us was its location. The only downside was having no outside space where we could go without the dogs on leads. Even a few enclosed feet would have made the holiday perfect.
Love this little cottage which is fine for us and our two Cocker Spaniels. Close to the beach, and the heart of Bude but still very secluded. You just don’t realise it’s there from the roadside. Makes it especially quiet, although lovely to wake to birdsong.
Walk to town, the beach or along Bude Canal, all within easy reach. We’ve stayed here a few times now, as so convenient to visit family who live up the road a bit. As the car is parked on the grounds, no hassle with finding parking spaces either.
Ideal for two people and a dog!We had 4 nights at Bay Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it.It's a cosy little place but has everything you need and is perfectly located - close to the canal, river, town centre and beach; but not too close. The hosts were superb - friendly and helpful with great communications. Check in was as easy as it gets, as was check out.The place was clean and basics, such as soap, washing up liquid and even some tea and coffee were provided. The central heating system was very effective but, while there is a nice wood-burning stove and a basket for logs, you do need to get your own if you want a fire - a few logs to get you started would have been a lovely touch. By coincidence, we met both Gina and Jon on the day we arrived. Jon mentioned some visitors had commented on the sofa needing replacement and asked our opinion. We concluded it probably does as it's a bit saggy but it was perfectly fine for our stay. Our only actual negative was the shower water temperature. While the combi-boiler did heat the water suitably, the mixer tap needs some adjustment - it's currently got too much cold mixing so it's only just about warm enough... it's sort of ok once you are in but getting in takes some building up to (a bit like getting in the sea!). under the water. I'll message Jon directly and hopefully he'll adjust it. Plenty of hot water for the bath though. The real test is whether we'd stay there again and it's a definite "Yes" from us!
Compact, everything you could need, great shower, most amazingly comfortable bed, huge fluffy towels, comfortable sofa table and chairs. This was our second stay and it's still one of the best in Bude, close to beach, canal, pub and town. If we get to Bude again it will definately be on our list.
