We had a wonderful time, myself 3 teens and our dog. Didnt realise the courtyard wasnt enclosed but just meant we had to keep hold of the dog . Great base to explore the area. Lovely fish & chips from opposite the church. A lovely stay.c

Nicely decorated and furnished cottage. Loads of utensils and cookware in the kitchen. Road a little busy during the day with large lorries and farm vehicles but doesn’t impact on the cosy cottage environment.

Everything you need is right there. Both in the property and in the surrounding areas. Go out the front door and turn right, there are 4 pubs all well great good and dog friendly. Brilliant chippy (Elliotts) and cafes, co op etc but it is still a beautiful sleepy village with a lovely church and all in walking distance. The nearest trail (that we found) is 1.2 miles drive heading out past the post office. Look for signs for picnic area. Great to let the dog run free. The cottage has everything you need and is really well presented. We would definitely return. Many thanks Chris and Karen

lovely, just needs a few tweaks
lovely little cottage, says it can accommodate 6, however living area and kitchen would definitely be a squeeze for 6. Bathroom is very small and although adequate again not big enough for 6 people, and has no extractor fan. Has everything you need. however kitchen is lacking a decent bottle opener, bedding could do with an upgrade, bobbled due to use and washing. Beds are too soft for our liking however they are adequate. Only one key for each door and not up to fire precautions for exiting. All that being said lovely cottage and had a great break.

Had a great time, only stayed a couple of days but packed a lot in. Wanted to show the boys the delights of the Derbyshire Dales. Poole's Cavern was a hit as were the hills above Abney. Rowsley Station was interesting even though we just missed the last train. Cottage had every thing we needed, well situated.

Lovely little cottage
Great cottage in a good location. Plenty of pubs to eat out in an all dog friendly. The cottage itself is lovely and clean and quite comfortable. Says it's dog friendly but there are a rules which were not in the description of the cottage, which made me feel a bit anxious and had to tell my dog off a lot to keep her off the furniture, also the rule not to let the dog upstairs was difficult. When we have stayed at "Dog friendly" before we have never had these rules. Perhaps don't state that it's dog friendly when it's not. No garden either!

Great location - lovely and warm .
The cottage was lovely - amazing location as pubs and shops very close - however don’t make the mistake we made as had assumed there was a little patio for the dogs, but the back door leads to a shared area with Neighbours which is not enclosed (we did feel this should have been made known) also the park next door has a big sign saying no dogs allowed .

We are very pleased you enjoyed our stay at The Nook and you found the cottage lovely and warm. Sorry if we misled you in thinking there was a patio, but in our description it does say 'Outside at the rear there is a shared yard with lockable storage for bikes or prams etc' and unfortunately, children's play parks do not allow dogs onto them, but there are several grassed areas less than a minute away for dogs to go onto. We hope you will stay again in the future. Caroline

Christmas in Tideswell
We had a lovely week in The Nook over Christmas 2021. The house is bigger than the online pictures suggest: three generous sized bedrooms, a good family-sized dining table in the kitchen, and decent floor space for Christmas present building in the living room. Televisions upstairs kept our teenager happy, and the wood burning stove made for some beautiful evenings on the sofas. The dog and I enjoyed several beautiful walks right from the cottage (heading west, out of the village past the post office, takes you to the Monsal trail and a network of footpaths along the River Wye, with some really impressive limestone landscapes; but great routes in all directions too), the toddler enjoyed the playpark right next to the cottage, and all of us enjoyed exploring Tideswell - a maze of old streets, going back to the 1600s. A really good week in all ways. The owner was really communicative and really kind, and even decorated the cottage for Christmas for us. A real gem of a person, and of a cottage too.

Great communications with the property owner. Lovely warm property (didn’t need the basket of logs provided!) Fabulous location next to the play park for families and 5 minutes if that from the centre. Only grouch is we didn’t have our Tesco order til the evening and there was no milk for a brew, but tea bags and all other condiments provided including washing machine and dishwasher tablets.

A week in the Peaks.
Property as described. Parking outside was a little busy when we arrived on the Saturday - but think this was due to a wedding taking place in the village. Easily parked the rest of the week on the road outside. The Nook had all we needed and we didn’t find the church bells or road noisy. Excellent central location with great walks and places to visit. Our favourites were cheedale, hathersage and padley gorge - look on Peak District kids website for great walks that aren’t too far. Pubs served great food - The Anchor, George and horse and Jockey. A brilliant first trip to the Peak District - we will be back.

Great holiday away
Lovely property, spacious rooms and a very nice bathroom. Having a lock box for the key made things very easy when our group split up on days out. Cleanliness was superb. Slightly noisy as large lorries drive past and the church chimes every hour - however this can't be helped and having the windows closed does block out the majority of the noise. Shops, cafes and pubs all within a few minutes walk. Drive to Alton Towers was 1 hr. Would highly recommend.

Lovely Property
We stayed at The Nook for a weeks holiday in July and absolutely loved it. We had six staying which consisted of my wife and I, our 18 year old son and his girlfriend and our 16 year old son and one of his friends. We were a little concerned that it may have been a little small for all of us but we needn't have worried. From the moment we walked in through the door we felt at home and the room sizes were actually larger then we had expected from the photos. The only minor issue that we had is that there is only one bathroom which between 6 of us needed a bit of planning but we all managed well enough. Tideswell itself is a beautiful little village with a number of pubs, restaurants and cafe's, plus a well stocked little co-op so we didn't have to venture far for a nice meal. There is a good little play park very close to the property for smaller children and also sports pitches. All in all we had a great week and would certainly go back or recommend this property for a break in the Peak District.

Great location for exploring the Peak District with plenty to do within a short drive. Walking distance of shop and pubs for food. Cottage was nice but a little cosy for 6 - we managed fine but are all fairly small! 2 of the bedrooms were incredibly hot but we did have unusually warm weather. Cottage was well equipped but no welcome tea/coffee/sugar as stated on description.

Lovely Cottage and Location
Caroline was very thorough from the off providing us all the details and more for a non-contact required check in. Even providing us with little notes to say certain doors might be a bit tight so give it a bit of extra umph when closing etc. Really tiny advice but very helpful! Certain areas of the cottage were a little dusty. Stairwell, under sofas etc. But overall the cottage itself and location shone brighter than the small scrutiny which I’m sure was just a blip (it’s been a tough old 18 months, all is forgiven!) It’s a shame there isn’t a garden at the back (we knew this upon booking) for the dogs to nip out to toilet. We did our research and saw a big field right next to the cottage via Google maps. Only to get there and see a sign saying No dogs allowed. Fear not, if you need a grass area the road opposite the cottage made for a good quick dog toilet stop. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. The restaurant next door but a few houses was lovely too and we’d recommend. The cottage is on the busier road in the village but it wasnt that bad traffic / noise wise. We enjoyed the village and walks which were a stones throw away from the cottage. Highly recommend the Tideswell to Monsal Trail walk which goes via a few pubs! Thanks Caroline for our stay, it made for a lovely week away!

Great Location
Really enjoyed our last minute get away at The Nook. Well located and equipped cottage. The Nook has been modernised extremely well with great use of the available space whilst keeping a traditional cottage feel. Modern, efficient heating system. Good Wifi and Netflix/Alexa available for any wet days/evening entertainment - TVs in the bedrooms too. Lots of fairly easy walks "from the door" to enjoy the beautiful area - Miller's Dale, Litton Mill, Monk's Dale, Monsal Trail, etc. Small Co-op 5 mins walk away plus a local bakery/deli and a Fish and Chip shop 2 mins walk. Lots of choice of "proper" pubs also serving food - our favourite being The Star. Merchant Yard restaurant almost next door - excellent modern restaurant but a little more pricey then the pubs. As others have commented - The Nook is close to the road into Tideswell. It is quiet in the evening/night but doesn't really get that busy even at peak times.
