At its core lies the resort’s namesake beach, while neighboring strands and rugged cliffs create stunning surroundings. Stroll inland along the Canal de Cala Saona for a glimpse of the region’s natural beauty.
Spend an afternoon at the small Playa de Cala Saona in the heart of the resort area. The beach is known for its utter serenity, with hammocks and umbrellas available to rent. Take a seat at one of the restaurants at the rear of the beach and enjoy fresh seafood with a backdrop of the scenic bay.
If visibility is good, you might spot the island of Ibiza across the water. Up close, you’re likely to see the rigging of fishing boats. Stay at the stylish hotel at the back of the beach and admire its excellent views of the cove and the bay. Arrange spa treatments or have meals in a fine-dining restaurant.
From the center of Cala Saona, walk south for a few minutes to stand on the cliffs of Punta Rasa and Punta des Bou. At the top of these jagged rock formations, you’ll feel the wind and sea spray on your face.
On the northern side of the resort lies the charming Calo d’en Trull beach. Notice the array of fishing huts that give the beach a rustic and charming feel. Go swimming with your family between the rocks of this postcard-pretty cove.
The resort overlooks the Cala d’en Trull bay on the western coast of the island of Formentera. Drive southwest from the town of Sant Francesc Xavier for less than 10 minutes to reach the bay. Continue south to arrive at the Barbaria Lighthouse that protrudes from the island’s southwestern cape. The Cala Saona is a gorgeous bay made up of golden beaches and cliffs.
