Property wasn’t much to look at outside but inside was perfectly clean. Good layout for our family of 5. Appliances clean and ample kitchen wares. Owners were awesome and good communications. Price was right and well located between houghton and copper harbor. Great place to stay for your trip to the Keewenaw.

Perfect and will be back

My airsoft team and I had a great time and it was exactly what we needed. Location was great as well. Hoping next time it is warmer and we can then sit outside and enjoy the location more.

It was perfect for our trip.

We came for our daughters graduation from MI Tech and it was perfect. We hosted a dinner one night with another family and it had a very well stocked and spacious kitchen, very comfortable accommodations, super clean and away from the hustle and bustle of Houghton during Grad weekend but only about 15 minutes from campus. Would highly reccomend!

Wonderful Place for a getaway

It was a pleasant stay. The wifi was generally weak with multiple devices and since most networks don't work in the area, a faster wifi would enhance communication ability. Overall a good place to stay and chill.

Great stay, Fantastic host!

My family and I spent the 4th of July weekend at the property and couldnt have asked for a better place! Vernon was a fantastic host and was very easy to communicate with, always helpful and responded quickly no matter the time of day. Plenty of room to stay, beds were great, huge kitchen, clean bathrooms and even fast internet. Overall we recommend it to anyone traveling the UP, we'll definitely be looking too book here again on our next travel north!

Nice central location to so many great places!!

The host was very kind and quick with correspondence! The location was great, very easy to find a new adventure in any direction! Accomodations were as described... spacious rooms and comfortable beds!! Truly the only downside was maneuvering the stairs, they are pretty steep and I have bad knees but we made it work!

The entrance and carpet are dirty. There is mildew growing on the bathroom window and dust caked on the kitchen fan spilling over the edges. The beds and linens and rest of kitchen were all very clean and comfy and the large dining room table and adjoining living room space was wonderful. Stairs did not feel safe—way to shallow steps and the railing needs tightening. Nearly every window treatment (slats missing in blinds) and both of the couches need replacing (very uncomfortable). Some very nice updates in kitchen and bathrooms, but more is needed to be up to rental standards, such as privacy doors on bedrooms and previously mentioned items.

Great location close to MTU

We rented at Whispering Pines while visiting our son at Michigan Tech University during the annual winter ice festival. The locaiton was perfect and just a short 10 minute drive to campus. Although this is an older property everything was very functional and provided adequate space for five of us. Large full kitchen, dining room and living area along with 3 bedrooms worked out perfect for us. The host, Vernon, was very attentive and made check in/out very easy and was readily available for any questions. We will definitely rent this property again for our next visit.

Summer Getaway

This property was perfect for our family and looked just as advertised! The beds were very comfortable & the kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook a family meal. There were 2 a/c units that kept us very comfortable. The stairs going up into the main part of the property are very steep with small steps, and we had to carry our big dog down them to get him outside. However, there are baby gates in the closet, and we could have gated the stairs to keep him on the lower level. Vernon was an awesome host with excellent communication from booking to check-out! I am sure we will be back next year!

Very Responsive Owner

No complaints about the owners who were very responsive to any minor inquiry I had before and during the stay. Property is older, but mattresses, bedding, towels, kitchen items and air conditioners were all new. Good area information provided. The owners are definitely trying to make the best of what they have, but there were a few negatives for us that may not bother others. The entire space smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. Floors were uneven and soft in spots, which made me uneasy. The stairs needed to get to the kitchen, living area, and most beds were VERY steep. This will be a problem for some potential renters. We would not have rented this spot had we known how steep they were. We were glad we had not brought our dog to this pet friendly space as the stairs would have posed a challenge for trips outside to go potty. We are around 50 and this might be a better rental for a group of younger travelers.
