My husband and I stayed for one night, a last minute booking. The staff were really helpful and informative about the area, food was superb and the village of Ickham was beautiful and immaculate.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The property desperately needs external tidying and painting which considering the location is a shame. We are surprised the local council have not enforced this.
This has to be the friendliest pub in England. We felt we belonged to the community 😃. Fantastic service, absolutely delicious food made from local produce and cooked by a very skilled chef. The place was full of character, even down to creaky floorboards. We loved it.
Exceptionally good stay. Comfortable warm room, superb breakfast, very courteous staff.
But HOTEL.com site EXCEPTIOALLY POOR. Took ages and got very contradictory informaton when we wanted to change date. Took ages online, chatbot and phone. Will not use Hotel.com again.
A lovely comfortable room with some nice touches (continental breakfast left outside room, Nespresso coffee machine and access to unlimited milk and bottled water). Earplugs also supplied, note - these were required as the noise from the pub below was loud until closing time.
Lovely country pub with friendly welcoming staff .Room was comfortable , clean and tastefully furnished with good facilities .Excellent dinner and breakfast . Highly recommended!
Perfect stay at the Duke William. Lovely room with comfortable bed and en suite. Tastefully furnished. Coffee machine and ample tea /milk included. Warm and spacious shower. Immaculate cleanliness throughout. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast with vegan/vegetarian options. Would highly recommend.
All-round excellence though if I were to nit-pick a little milk with the tea [in the room] and guidance as to how to open the hemi-spherical coffee containers wouldn't have come amiss. But we're looking forward to our next visit when I hope rabbit casserole will be on the menu.
The entire staff were extremely friendly and very thoughtful. We loved their humor and the fact that they made us feel like we were at home. Surrounding cities needed a car which we did not have so we took several taxis. We mainly enjoyed hanging out at the pub, walking thru the fields and visiting near by cities .
The room is above a busy pub if you are a light sleeper , did not bother us. We left early the day we departed and the assistant manager came in early to see us off and help with our luggage. Also, because we left early there was a basket outside our door with all kinds of goodies so we wouldn’t leave hungry. Great attention to detail. Great adventure!!! So happy that we made them part of our trip across the pond. Absolutely lovely!! Cute little phrase we picked up from our English new friends.
Stayed two nights and would highly recommend it. The room was perfectly comfortable although the floors are a little creaky - not unexpected in a pretty old building. The welcome was very friendly and the highlight was the food. We ate in the bar both nights and couldn't fault any of it or indeed the breakfasts. Very enjoyable stay.
Amazing place with truely excellent food and ales. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. The staff are super attentive. The best English Breakfast in the world.
Quaint pub in pretty village. Excellent menu, well prepared and presented food. Good range of beer.
Comfortable room, with all facilities. Friendly, enthusiastic staff. Great stay.
Very friendly and professional staff
Very informative and helpful
Portions in the restaurant are very generous and the breakfast although limited in someways is delicious
There is limited noise from the pub but your staying in the pub itself and we enjoyed the buzz from this.
Lovely village pub with rooms. Food and breakfast really enjoyable. Just bear in mind the rooms are above the pub, so only stay if you don't mind a bit of noise below during pub hours.
Room did have ear plugs mind.
Such a welcoming pub. After a very tasty meal we stayed overnight which finished the evening off beautifully. Breakfast, despite being a bit lukewarm was delicious and set us up for the day ahead.
A lovely birthday treat thank you
We were made most welcome on arrival. Our room was clean and warm. Our evening meal was top class and breakfast was excellent. All at a reasonable price. We can’t wait for our next visit.
Wonderful place to stay. Would definitely be going back. Great staff, great food and lovely ambience. Room was lovely. En-suite bathroom needed some TLC and when mentioned had a very positive response. Great stay overall.
Everything was wonderful. Fire side chilling, food was wonderful and reasonable, the staff were great, countryside was idyllic. We loved everything about it.
What a little gem of a place this is. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and the pub, room and restaurant were fantastic. We stayed for a wedding nearby, and they were great in allowing us to pick the key up early and leaving our bags in the room. Shame we didn't book in for Sunday lunch - I would gladly recommend this pub for an overnight stay.
Easy check in, friendly staff. Got back late and everyone so helpful. Comfy bed, fabulous breakfast -definitely looking forward to making another stop :)
Sarah the manager was very nice and very accommodating she couldn’t do enough for me she is a credit to the establishment Will definitely stay there again I’ll Give the accommodation at the Duke William five stars !!!
As soon as I walked through the door and said I had a resivation I was treated like a local ,the barman asked me did I want a drink straight away,I was then showed my room ,and I was totally delighted with, the staff where so friendly ,and helpful, will definitely go back to this beautiful country hotel
Chose this hotel to redeem an award night against. We stayed in the Ramsay room; which didn't suffer any noise from the bar or road as reported for other rooms.
Unfortunately it was really windy weather which meant the windows and air vent rattled most of the night - obviously can't expect the hotel to be responsible for the weather, but maybe room for improvement. Shower room was spacious, could do with a freshen up around the shower cubicle trim and the toilet seat lid was a bit 'snap happy'.
Staff were nice enough, not overly attentive. Got the impression they know they have a very popular venue.
Breakfast was amazing - we had full English and the ingredients were excellent.
Fabulous pub, log fire, candles, friendly staff. Had an issue with my dessert which they did add onto the bill but when i complained the next day they happily took off, although this should have been done at the time. If you are looking for a quiet night forget it. You can hear every conversation in your room from the pub downstairs.
