North Cascades Getaway – Off-Grid Riverside Cabin with Wood-Fired Hot Tub
10/10 Excellent
"We really enjoyed our stay at Somnia Vera! Really great location, directly on the Cascade River. Awesome wood-fired hot tub, and the cottage is a treat! Very close to some of the best hiking in Cascades, but plenty far away from civilization!"
"Let's start with the good:
The property is very close to North Cascades park. It was very quiet and far enough back from the road to not be disturbed by cars. The large meadow from the Theme Cabins was beautiful. Firepits with ample seating & the property supplied wood for evening fires. The scenery was magnificent with lush trees & great views of the mountains. Right across from the Skagit River which you can walk to for some nice river views. The staff were helpful but slightly overwhelmed.
Here is the other side of the coin:
The site states that the cabin is fully stocked but was very limited. We had to go ask for several items: dish soap, coffee, paper towels. The owners have made efforts to assuage the mice problem as evidenced by the traps all over the property. But, you are in nature and mice are an inevitable issue. Put your food in the fridge or plan on putting it up on top of the cupboards or mice proof containers. We had our bread & apples eaten though by mice in the night before we realized. We also had mice droppings in all the cookware so be prepared to clean thoroughly even if you think the dishes are clean. Also, buy food in one of the small towns (Darrington) before arriving as some of the restaurants will be closed & there is limited grocery available in town. What they do have is very expensive!!"

"What a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. The hosts seem to have thought of every detail. The property is breathtaking, with a short beautiful hike to the upper Skagit River."
Rainbow House: North Cascades Skagit River Retreat
10/10 Excellent
"Cute house and perfect for our family. It was a great location as a home base to go in and out of the North Cascades National Park. Clean and had all the essentials for our stay. Would definitely stay here again!"
Snowshoe in the Northern Cascades ( shoes provided), stay in a luxe Scandi cabin
6/10 Okay
"This was a cute cabin and owners have done a great job at decorating and suppling it. We enjoyed the fireplace, outdoor shower and tub. The bed was very comfortable. The stairs to the bed are very steep and small steps, so if you have issues with steps be cautious. The surrounding neighborhood is not as clean as this place, but luckily the forest encloses the view for you! "
American Alps Lodge: Riverfront, Beach, Hot Tub, EV Charger, Game Room
10/10 Excellent
"Unfortunately, we had a family emergency and were not able to stay. However, the host was very understanding, helpful, and caring while cancelling our trip. With the level of service received from the host, I would highly recommend the stay to anyone. "
"The pictures do not do the Rhody House justice! It was such a charming, well equipped, and comfortable cabin, despite being in a remote area. The Rhody House is the perfect place to explore harder to get to places in North Cascades National Park, including the Cascade Pass area. We were very impressed with how fast the wifi was, and we loved how peaceful and quiet the cabin was. I can see why it stays booked up! We will definitely try to stay here again if we come back to the North Cascades area. Thanks to Steve for being such a fantastic host and sharing his amazing cabin with visitors! "
