    The Space:

Tucked away in the charming market town of Castle Cary, this two-bedroom cottage offers a stylish and comfortable retreat. Although newly built, the cottage has been constructed to complement the period architecture and character of the surrounding area, blending into its historic setting.

Inspired by Scandinavian design, the home follows an upside-down layout, allowing the main living spaces to make the most of the natural daylight. On the ground floor, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms - one king and one double - both offering comfortable beds and ample storage space for your belongings. This level also features a sleek modern bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower.

    The Neighborhood:

Castle Cary, in the heart of rural Somerset, offers the perfect balance of countryside peace and easy access to local shops, pubs, and some of the region’s best attractions. Just a few minutes’ walk away, Castle Cary High Street has everything you need for your stay, including a small supermarket, traditional bakery, butcher, wine merchant, post office, chemist, cafés, and independent shops.

Food lovers are well catered for, with excellent local dining options nearby. Enjoy a meal or drink at The George on the High Street, The Orchard in Galhampton, The Natterjack in Evercreech, or The Alhampton Inn. For something different, Rio D’Oro serves excellent Italian food, while Burnt Honey is a lovely local café for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. Booking ahead is highly recommended, as many local venues have limited opening days.

From the rear of the house, you can step straight into beautiful countryside walks, with far-reaching views across the Somerset Levels towards Glastonbury Tor. Just a couple of minutes away, the historic All Saints Church adds to the village’s charm. If you're staying on a Tuesday, don’t miss the local farmers’ market for fresh produce and local treats.

A short drive takes you to Wincanton Racecourse for racing and events, while mystical Glastonbury offers the Tor, Abbey ruins, and the famous festival site. Nearby The Newt in Somerset is a must-visit for its spectacular gardens, woodland walks, farm shops, and dining. Historic Wells, England’s smallest city, and elegant Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, both make excellent day trips.

With countryside walks, local food, historic towns and Somerset’s best attractions close by, Castle Cary is a wonderful base for exploring this beautiful part of the South West.
