"The staff was excellent. The food was excellent. It was clean. The pool was nice. They have cookies and coffee and water 24 hours a day even games to play in the lobby. The only part that was a little creepy is when you go down to the pool in the basement there’s like this creepy war memorial that makes it seem like a horror film, but otherwise the property was nice."

"Property was great pool was amazing second time we stayed there and both times we were kept up all night from noise partying smell of marijuana so they need to crack down on that but if that wasn't the situation the property would have been great"

"There was not a hot breakfast offered during my stay and the bed was not comfortable. I was charged a $50 deposit when I arrived and was told I would get it back when I left and still have not received it back. We left the room in a clean tidy condition. The pool and hot tub seemed dirty and there were no towels. Overall I feel the pictures were deceiving and the room did not meet my expectations, I would not stay there again. "

"Breakfast is not included. Property is a bit more run down than other Doubletrees we have stayed at. Our first room had water spots on the ceiling and potentially mold. We had to be moved the second night because the room above was leaking water in our vent very loudly. There were unfortunately no other available rooms with king beds. "

"My husband grew up seeing this place and always wanted to stay here. So when he had to go back up to Michigan I thought it would be a nice surprise to book him a room here. First of all they said they had no rooms available. This was after booking the reservation (through Expedia). They all of a sudden managed to come up with a room - room 330 which was apparently akin to the janitor's closet. I *specifically* paid extra for a city view. He was on the third floor and his view was of the building across the street. Many areas of the room were dirty such as the table and counter spaces. The refrigerator only went down to 50 degrees. And was missing a leg. A guy came up to look at it, 'reset' it and it still only had 3 legs and went down to 50 degrees. The first night he only slept under the blanket but the second night he went under the sheets and spent most of the night not sleeping and scratching himself raw. He is covered in itchy bites of some sort. After the lack of responsiveness on the refrigerator issue he felt there was absolutely no point in taking this up with the front desk, especially since he was checking out this morning anyway. I spent quite a bit of money to do this for him and he could have stayed at the Super 8 and had a better experience and saved me a pile of money."

"The hotel itself is fine, especially for the price. We had a major issue with the front desk staff. My son and I were attempting to purchase an ice cream from a freezer in the lobby. The desk clerk accused my son of stealing an ice cream and placing it in the pocket of his swim trunks. It was absurd. It did not happen. But he insisted and even made my son turn his pockets inside out in the middle of the lobby with others around. It was completely false, baseless, and humiliating. I was furious but just kept my cool and paid for our two $3 ice cream bars and left. My 11-year-old son was upset and embarrassed. I have no idea what the young man was thinking. He seemed a bit awkward during the check in process, but I didn't think much of it. But the ice cream episode was totally unacceptable. It's unfortunate because it totally tainted a good weekend for our family and an otherwise pleasant experience."

"My stay at Holiday Inn downtown Grand Rapids was great and very comfortable. They offered a breakfast buffet for $16.99, but we did not check it out. This hotel was clean, the staff was great, and they offered a free shuttle bus to downtown events. I recommend this hotel and I will stay here again. "
