The staff was always friendly and extremely helpful for all needs- including meeting us in the outside parking area and taking our bags to the hotel. The owner, Lista, was exceptionally kind and thoughtful and spent time with us explaining the hotel’s history as well as being truly interested in our experiences of Crete and the Hotel. We think Crete is a terrific and the Domus Renier is one of the best places we’ve stayed in 8 years of traveling around Europe. The rooms are immaculate , the breakfasts sumptuous, and the atmosphere like family. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. "

"Everything was perfect. Superb service from every member of staff. Probably the best breakfasts in the world with a fantastic choice of fresh home made food. Cleanliness and hospitality are top of the agenda. Perfect location in the heart of the old town with an easy 3 minute walk to shops, tavernas and harbour, but nevertheless very quiet and discreet. The whole building has been beautifully renovated and the family owners are rightly very proud of its heritage. "

"Had a brilliant stay. The location is perfect, staff are lovely and extremely helpful, room was impeccable, breakfast was excellent. There's a bit of noise from the waterfront as you would expect, but the windows are surprisingly soundproof. We hired a car via the hotel's contact and that was also very easy and competitively priced."

"I had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Amphora Hotel. The location was incredible, the view from the balcony couldn't have been better, and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The only thing that I could say that wasn't glowingly positive was that I could hear people in the neighboring room, but I'm sure that's common in these older hotels. I would absolutely stay again and recommend to others."

"Perfect location with a beautiful harbour view. Staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Our room was lovely and the bed was so big and comfy. Breakfast was amazing,great choices on offer with a good selection of hot and cold options The location is perfect for shopping and eating out and every restaurant is as good as the one before ,including the hotel itself . We will definitely be booking again for next year "

"The Alcanea hotel is a most unique property. It is decorated in a way that emphasizes the 500 year old fortress it is a part of. The bed was amazingly comfortable, with lovely bedding. It is situated perfectly with wonderful views, and great walks. The breakfasts were delicious! We enjoyed the Cretan foods. The staff are very kind! Eva always had time to chat and give us ideas of where to go and what to do. Georgia served us breakfast every morning. We enjoyed her very much. Our cleaning lady, was also a gem! We will plan to go back again! Enjoyed every minute!!"
