Run down rooms need deep clean and a paint job Beds are terrible thin mattress and pillows couldn’t sleep to make tea you have to have kettle on floor Shared bathrooms were disgusting no blind at windows .paint falling off windowsill no towels not a good place to stay .

Place is a dump. Bed sheets were not clean and had pubs in them and stains and they smelt. It was dirty and disgusting

All that was missing was Fred and Rosemary
Awful. Couldn’t stay. Was too dirty. Too broken. Too awful. Could not rest there with broken doors, dirty sheets, shared toilets and bath. But of course they wouldn’t refund. And neither would hotel.com who I will never use again. This is NOT a hotel. It’s rooms above a pub BEWARE

For £45 a night, what do you expect? That said, the bathroom lights didn’t work, shower was stuck on what felt like full hot, the bathroom window blind was stuck open and I’m pretty sure the room”s previous occupant had been smoking in there.

It was very unique to spend the night killing Beetles in the bed, there was no towel so had I wanted a shower that would have not been possible. The staff were very friendly however. They could not control the evenings temperature, but I don’t think the insects had just arrived

It could have been cleaner
Convenient location, cheap, but full of bed bugs (I must have killed around 20 of them, staining the quilt with blots of blood), and there was only hot water in the shower, not having the option to mix it with some cold. The room was a tiny attic, with no aeration, ending in being hot from some point onwards. I had to keep the door open to let some air come in and lower down the ambient temperature.

Bed bugs! Do not stay here!
This was my email I sent to the hotel at dawn yesterday. They didn’t even bother to reply and presumably let someone else sleep in this infested room! Having stayed with you at the Midland Hotel last night, at the price of the room, I wasn’t expecting much. The fact that the room was not much bigger than a cupboard wasn’t ideal but it suited my needs. However, when i woke in the morning I noticed blood spots on the sheet and they had not been there before i went to bed. So I pulled back the duvet and looked more closely. I was horrified to see little bugs crawling over the bed i just slept on. That room should be condemned. It is not fit for anyone to stay in. I will await your response before contacting hotels.com and trip advisor as I think bed bugs are totally unacceptable. I have just thrown away some of my clothes that came in contact with that bed. I took a picture of one of the bugs. You can just about see it in the picture and can see from both pictures that it was moving as in one pic it was further away from the blood splatter. ImageImage

Nicely located by the station but thats it.
Not good at all. when i cheeked it i was asked how i was going to pay,cash or card. id already payed. room was not good at all. beds had no headboards and my bed was broken. the toilet seat was broken. i had a beer in the bar and it was off.avoid

The "shared" toilet meant only one toilet for 10 bedrooms as the lock on the other toilet had been broken and not repaired. No soap for hand wash in the toilet, so EVERYONE using the loo touched the toilet door handle and corridor door handles with unwashed hands. This is just not good enough. Bed comfy and clean, but we had to ask for towels and tea cups. Good car parking nearby. Staircase= beautiful Victorian architecture but NOT SUITABLE for anyone with mobility issues. no WIFI in room Everything was shabby, and in need of redecoration. A noisy pub well after midnight, and noisy guest above us paced about from 6.30-8.45am on Sunday morning The "boss" was helpful and friendly, and quickly fetched towels and cups.

Not great. Stuff on the carpet in the room, either hadn't been hoovered, or the vacuum wasn't working properly. Usually just keep socks on to walk around the room but had to put my shoes on every time I needed to get out of bed. There was a clump of paper stuck to the wall that had obviously been left there by a previous guest and not cleaned off. Decoration needs redoing - gaps in paint/wallpaper and sometimes plaster. Neither bedside lamp was working. One of the other sockets wasn't working - you could hear the electric shorting inside if you turned switch on. This meant you had a choice of having TV on, using kettle or having the heater on as there was only one socket to use (unless you risked having a boiling kettle on the units next to the bed). WiFi didn't reach the room either. Lock on the nearest bathroom door is broken so you run the risk of someone walking in on you. Shower in the other bathroom seems to have 2 temperature settings - boiling or scalding. Also seemed to be patrons of the pub coming up to use the bathrooms at times, not great. On the plus side is right next to station and on a bus route into town, with food places nearby, including a little Tesco. However, while it is cheap, I have stayed in places that charge less but are at least clean!

Rooms are small & dirty only one bathroom on lower floor which was also very dirty black mould all around & inside the shower cubicle. Should be advertised as a hostel. The staff had no intetest in guests only the pub customers got made to feel welcome.
