"Beautifully furnished boutique hotel with very helpful staff. Rooms are well maintained and kept clean. The hotel restaurant does some great menu items so worth a visit. Breakfast buffets are fine but probably not to everyone's tastes. Location is next to the cathedral so ideal for a city stay with a difference - Funchal is a super place to visit and we hit the Xmas illumination that is world famous."

"Very friendly welcome and was also upgraded to a superior sea view room, which was clean and well-equipped, with a kitchen. Location was perfect at the quiet end of the front and close to the cable car station to Monte. Car parking in the basement was very handy and leaving it there after checkout was no problem. Breakfast was very pleasant and we also had a drink in the Captain’s bar outside later, again excellent service and a nice ambience. Would definitely book here again if we were staying over in Funchal."

"The hotel was a delightful experience in every way. We wanted to avoid being in the historical district of Funchal which is full of crowds, noise and the multiple cruiseliners. The hotel is an comfortable 20 min walk up an easy hill and is an oasis in the city: exquisite landscaping and gardens and sublime view. Hotel is spotlessly clean and staff is extremely friendly and welcoming."
