Fantastic Location, lovely breakfast, very friendly staff. Nice touches like the glass of bubbly on arrival and at breakfast. However, the hotel is a bit dated and the hair drier in the bathroom went bang when my wife tried to use it. Could also do with a kettle in the room.

Very clean, small but fully equipped and comfortable, next to a laundromat, great welcome snacks and drinks. Perfect stay for our last night as we dined at a beautiful restaurant nearby

Nice people, very friendly. Hotel is old though and very warm without airco(!!) Location very good. Also breakfast is basic and with us it was Busy directly when opend.

Good location, with balcony, no AC but there is a fan and when we went, it was 18C outside. If you are hiking or touring early, they can prepare a mini breakfast for you which is pretty awesome. Otherwise, the regular breakfast is @ 7:30 and it’s pretty good. They still use manual keys for door locks. Has a pool but we didn’t use it. Helpful staff.

A secret Madeiran gem. This hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful service, excellent room, and the location couldnt have been handier. We stayed in a few places in Funchal. This was the best one. We are coming back!

We had a short 3 night break, and wanted to be in the middle of the Old Town to make the most of it. Carmo was in the perfect location - 10 minute walk from everything we wanted to do! The hotel itself was brilliant too - great breakfast, comfy room, nice bar, amazing rooftop pool - and the staff were all incredibly helpful. We would definitely come back here the next time we return - but hopefully stay for longer. Thanks for the great few days Hotelk do Carmo! Cheers Adam & Mel Taylor

Hotel Do Carmo

The Hotel Do Carmo is in a very good location; close to shops, cafés and a grocery store. The lobby of the hotel was very nice, so when we got up to our room we were surprised to see that it was quite dated. The little balcony overlooking the street was great. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They offer parking across the street for €10/day. The breakfast was good with many options. The welcome glass of sparkling wine was a nice touch!

We highly recommend this hotel. It was in a very good location to get to the Mercado and the cable car, as well as any place in Funchal. We don’t recommend having a car in Funchal. It’s definitely a walking town. Special thanks to the receptionist. She makes the hotel a higher rating. She was very helpful with recommendations and overall being so dedicated to us having a terrific stay. We would stay here again, unfortunately it was already booked

A special mention to the exemplary service from all staff members. Very helpful and accommodating, helped me with finding out about bus options when I had failed to notice it was a public holiday. No issue holding my luggage on the day of check out while I waited for my bus. The building makes the most of retro features and has all the amenities you'd expect. For a very central location it's tucked away on a side street which kept my room nice quiet at night. I'd happily stay here again!

Wonderful experience. The front desk staff was kind, patient. The bar was cute and you can certainly sit outside. It's walkable to all of downtown shopping. The rooms are small, clean, and have what we needed (shampoo, soap, towels). Just as an FYI, there is parking available for 10 euros/night. Since we arrived late and were only staying 1 night, we were able to find street parking for cheaper. We enjoyed the welcome champagne. The included breakfast was very good! I would definitely recommend and will be back.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and they typically had a lot of variety. The location is very close to the town center and the parking is right across the street. The only negative I can think of is that the hotel is undergoing a renovation and it can get pretty loud and noisy at times.

Un très bel hotel avec un service impeccable. Ceci-dit, il faisait très chaud dans la chambre et il n'y avait pas d'air climatisée. Avoir un petit frigo aurait également été plus pratique.
