The location, the house, and the host were wonderful… Loved being so close to the beach and right on the canal as well. Look forward to staying here in the future!
Lots of room inside and out. Everything you need for the beach and a canal kayak and bicycling. Nice neighborhood to walk and a short walk to the beach.
My family and I stayed for the 4th of July week and had a great time!! We grilled almost every day and hung out on the dock daily. This area was a big hit with the kids! Beds were all very comfortable and we had everything we needed in the kitchen, with grocery stores near by. My family already wants to plan another trip back!
My family just stayed here for the second year in a row and we have already booked for next year. We love the house inside and out with plenty of space for a group to hang out comfortably. There is also plenty of cabinet space in the kitchen to unpack everything, which is a treat when renting!
Sun, sand, and a perfect beach house for home base
Great property on one of the canals at Sunset Beach, NC. Well appointed, including beach chairs, bags, and other sand gear. The screened in porch on the canal side, was the perfect spot for morning coffee, and evenings after dinner. Easy walk to the beach access. Would definitely stay here again!
Our family enjoyed staying here! The short distance to the beach was an easy walk and the house was clean. Plenty of room for all 7 of us. Would recommend this to anyone!
Hosted my sister for a weekend and they loved the house and location. It was clean and all it said it was going to be. Very easy to deal with owner / manager. Highly recommend.
The house was clean, up to date and charming. Enjoyed evenings on the screened porch overlooking the canal. Made good use of the bicycles on site, as well as the cart for transporting our chairs / umbrella to the beach. Would happily return here for another memorable getaway at Sunset Beach.
Our stay here was awesome! The outdoor space was perfect for our crew and the back not getting the afternoon sun was a great advantage of the house! Also, the ice maker is a game changer! The host was easy communicate with and proactive in answering questions and meeting needs. Would highly recommend staying here with your family at Sunset!
This is a very nice beach house. Older style but nicely updated. Very comfortable living area, expanded kitchen/eating area. Lots of beach accessories such as chairs, umbrella, wagon and sand toys. Right on the canal and use if kayaks. Owner friendly and available.
Living our best salt life - If only for one week! Our multi generational family vacation returned to this well-appointed and comfortable home. With the Beach an easy walk away and a canal in the backyard there’s always fun to be had! John’s a responsive and accommodating host. We’ll return!
We stayed three nights with family in early October and loved it. Great location just two blocks from the soft white sand at Sunset Beach. All bathrooms are accessed through bedrooms so this house may not be ideal unless you are close family or friends. We had no problem with it. We also loved having access to the kayaks and bicycles which we rode two miles down to the Kindred Spirit mailbox. Would definitely stay here again.
Something for everyone. We LOVED this house and everything it offered! Our kids range from 8-16 and everyone was happy. We biked, kayaked, fished, played board games, enjoyed the beach, grilled, relaxed, and more. The walk to the beach really is only a couple minutes. The house was extremely clean and beds were also really comfy. We 100% would love to come back!
I had previous accommodations that fell through. After doing some research on available properties, I landed on this one. I contacted the owner and was able to book last minute to keep my anniversary trip in tact. Then when child care fell through we were able to bring the kids, no problems. House was clean, well maintained and just as advertised.
The house is located on a dead end side street which adds to the peacefulness of the already quiet residential community of Sunset Beach. We were pleasantly surprised by the short walk to the beach - just a block to the beach access.
The kitchen was well stocked with cookware to accommodate our plan of eating in.
The family enjoyed the amenities of the kayaks, bicycles, and beach umbrella. The beach umbrella was a life saver given our surprise of the Sunset Beach placement restriction of cabanas and shibumai.
Definitely recommend and would book again.
Very well equipped kitchen and amenities. Owner provided kayaks and bikes and was thoughtful to also include an air compressor and a commercial ice
Maker to provide abundant ice for coolers. Clean and comfortable. The mattress was more comfortable than most others. I actually meant to look to see who the manufacturer was. The beach was perfect as always. Just more crowded than I remember as a child. The canal and the floating dock were nice. The owner was responsive and answered any questions we had.
We greatly enjoyed our week! The beach is a super short walk and the home’s location on the canal was an added bonus. The kids loved fishing off the dock and we loved using the kayaks from the storage room. Interior is updated with a great big open kitchen/living spaces. Great screened in porch to enjoy evenings overlooking the canal. The only surprise was that one of the bedrooms has a separate entrance below the main living spaces. It worked for our group as my family stayed in the main area and grandparents enjoyed their own space. John was an excellent host and very responsive. Thank you for a great week!
The house was very nice and the owner very pleasant to work with. Beds and sheets were superb. Large enough for all of us to be comfortable. Kitchen needs a little TLC as far as items in cabinets. But was very roomy and nice. Large appliances very nice. Bathrooms nice except commode lid in smaller needs to be replaced. Some lamps need replacing and nsome eed bulbs. Air filters badly need cleaning.th
Nice place. Comfortable. On the canal connecting to inter-coastal waterway. Close to the beach (couple block walking distance). Great owner. Our family members stayed here during a large holiday extended family gathering. They were very comfortable there. The owner was very communicative and even quickly engaged when one issue arose, which was quickly resolved. Place was a little musty at first, since seemed no one had stayed there for a bit of time before this lodging event. But got better after some airing out and HVAC running. Please note that the twin beds are in the same room as one of the King beds. From the listing, we thought they would be in a separate space from the other beds. Not impactful for us this stay, but good to understand. House could perhaps use some updating, but that did not affect how nice it was to stay in. The master bath shower was noted to be especially nice. Would recommend this place to others looking to stay in the Sunset Beach/Ocean Isle Beach area.
My family and I had a very nice stay this thanksgiving. There are a couple of different things with this house that renters should know. One of the upstairs king bedrooms shares a small bathroom with the other upstairs queens. The other upstairs king bedroom has its own large and very nice bathroom and walk in shower. If someone needs to use the bathroom they will have to walk through a bedroom to get to it which could be awkward in some groups. Other very interesting design is that the third king bedroom is on the first floor and has no connection to the upstairs and the bathroom does not have a shower or bathtub. There is an outdoor shower right outside if you stay when it’s warm. The downstairs bedroom opens directly into the carport. The downstairs bedroom does have a very nice size tv, separate air conditioning, sofa and chairs which could be very nice for groups that want more separation. Only couple minor complaints. Would like to have an ice maker of some sort since refrigerator does not have a built in one. Also the wifi seemed quite hit or miss. Other main issue was that the thermostat was locked so we could not adjust heating or cooling which was a problem during our stay because we had some major temperature swings that required a/c some days and heat others. We had to keep texting the owner to adjust it for us. To their credit they eventually unlocked the thermostat so we could stay comfortable. Hopefully this will stay unlocked for future renters.
We stayed in this house for Fall break vacation with our family. The stay was good and the location is nice. The hosting team was very communicative and comfortable. Loved to stay in the place and recommend it.
