Great 4 day stay at Pelshaven. The cottage was immaculate, comfy and cozy. Good location with a fabulous village shop and a great hotel bar/ restaurant just around the corner. Would definitely recommend.
Reason for down grading on line listing is that I had to put in that 3 people were staying to get 2 bedrooms. We have often stayed in the area and enjoy it. We came into the area for a Christian weekend conference. It was very convenient for the place it was held. However we would have expected there to be a cafeteria, proper teapot , milk jug and sharp bread knife. We realise we are 2 elderly ladies and that younger people probably do not require these items. Arm chairs were low for our requirements but in goo condition. We did have the dining chairs. We enjoyed the outside area on our first evening in the warm sunshine.
We were left without....tea towels, kitchen towel or paper towels, dish cloth, no newspapers or kindling to light the wood burning stove.... disappointing in light of the dip in temperatures whilst we were there. There were no hand towels for the bathrooms and there was only a teeny amount of soap in the dispenser. We tried to heat up a ready meal....no casserole dish.
We stayed at Pelhaven cottage for a week in October and enjoyed it very much. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed and really cosy. Particularly enjoyed the log burner a real focal point and the underfloor heating in the bathroom!! Also great communication with Stuart and a lovely welcome pack when we arrived.
Although Cornhill is tiny it has a really amazing family run store, their home baking is to die for and I would highly recommend that you support it when you stay. Great Indian restaurant in Coldstream and the Beson Inn was good too.
Plenty of places to go so makes a good base we particularly enjoyed Melrose, Kelso and St Abbs.
Would definitely recommend and would be very happy to return.
