"The breakfast was first rate, the cooked breakfast was just enough and cooked to perfection. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful which greatly improved the whole experience. The building internally would benefit from a little attention eg. Some flaking paintwork in hallway, but nothing offensive, and did not affect our stay at all. The room was clean and well presented, so glad we upgraded to Deluxe double. Noticed a little black mould on the grout around bath, but it was clear that the bathroom had been thoroughly cleamed. We loved staying at the Macdonald Linden, and would happily recommend it to other travellers We hope to return soon. Great base for exploring the beauty of Northumberland. An altogether great weekend."

"Lovely peaceful location beside the river. Clean and well appointed house with everything we needed. Perfect spot for visiting Cragside and walks."

"Our stay at Carven House for one week was perfect. We are a couple with a dog and found the house warm and welcoming, equipped to a high standard. The décor was fresh whilst in keeping with the period and the kitchen is obviously very new and well equipped. All rooms are typically large for a period property and very comfortably equipped. The location was great and perfect as dog owners. Immediately outside the front of the house are grass areas for the final evening "walk", and to the rear is a lovely (off lead) riverside walk which became the morning exercise. The village is extremely friendly, with everyone keen to say hello and chat. Local pubs were great with four to choose from! We chose Rothbury as a base for exploring the coast and countryside. We also found good walks directly from the village if you fancy a day without driving. Parking outside the house was easy and everywhere in the village is free. All in all, a great week in a lovely house and perfect location."

"The host was brilliant when we had a few issues with heating. Including if needed travelling 45 minutes to us, which luckily we didn’t need in the end."

"A lovely modern cottage in a peaceful rural setting. We really enjoyed our stay and felt right at home. As city dwellers, the narrow winding country lanes took a little getting used to, but the tranquillity at the end was well worth it. Our host was gracious, welcoming, and very helpful. Highly recommend! "
