3/5 Okay

Enjoyed visiting the pool and the food was satisfactory. Felt overpriced for a soulless hotel where the rooms were what you’d expect from a Premier Inn. Systems were down when we arrived for check in and we sat waiting in the lounge area-half an hour later we had to remind them we were still waiting-they commented they had forgotten we were there. A functional hotel for one night but not the special experience you might expect.

The reception area was beautiful and the breakfast was lovely. Rooms are a bit tired and need updating, especially the bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Leisure facilities were good.

The pool at the hotel seems to be a secret - not obvious on website. Paid for a two course dinner that turned out to be a buffet. Room ‘adequate’, slightly sparse, very little toiletries and bathroom looked tired. For the price, we were disappointed.

Terrible experience!!
Terrible experience! We booked thinking it would be a nice relaxing place with facilities to enjoy before going out that evening. Unfortunately we arrived to loads of trucks and vans offloading boxes etc. at the front entrance and noticed banners everywhere for an audio equipment trade exhibition happening at the hotel the next day. We had not been informed of this on making the reservation or subsequently prior to arrival. After making our way through things to the reception desk we we told that even though it was well after the 3pm check in time, our room wasn't ready and to wait in the bar area and we would be informed when the room was available. We did so, again making our way through the utter chaos and waited. At 4:30 we returned to the reception and with out any apology were given our room key. On the way to the room we noticed that the exhibitors were using the hotel rooms for their demonstrations, playing music to demonstrate their equipment (as you would at an event like this.) They were all pleasant enough and moved their stuff for us to get past to get to our room which was on a corridor around the corner from all of this. Once we had dropped the bags off, we tried to find a quiet spot, but all of the lounge area and bar were also being set up and used so just went back to the room again and got ready to go out in Middlewich for the evening. The next morning we had breakfast and left as soon as we could. If we'd known about the event we'd have booked elsewhere!

Lovely hotel - receptionist needs some training
Lovely hotel, great restaurant gym pool and spacious room. My stay was marred by a receptionist who didn’t appear to know the invoicing process or be able to see problems from my (the customer) viewpoint. Her answers didn’t make much sense. Very frustrating!

On arrival I was almost ridiculed for having a mobility space,( yes I am entitled) there was a mangy cat on the desk, real hygienic ! then when we got in the room we had a random stranger walk in to our room. The shower dripped 24/7, on reporting it the girl was not interested at all !The following night trying to get drink from room service was so much effort we gave up,the night porters attitude was stinking, our key card failed on us that night and he argued with me that it wasn’t my room as I called myself by my abbreviated name not my full Christian name. Frankly the hospitality was abysmal, more basil fawlty than the class I was expecting!

Great hotel.
I booked three rooms for a family wedding. We all really liked the hotel, it has lovely grounds and is a beautiful building. The rooms were a really good size with a lovely view of fields and were very quiet. The breakfast was excellent and had good vegan options for two of our party who had requested this. We could perhaps have done with the room being serviced as we stayed for two nights but we hadn't realised you have to request this now, a very minor gripe. It maybe is a little tired in places but we had a very comfortable stay. The bar is great and we really enjoyed the singer who provided the entertainment on Friday night. Service overall was very good with really friendly staff. I was particularly grateful to the person on reception who kindly booked us a taxi at very short notice as many guests at the wedding we attended had problems with getting taxis and this is always difficult if you don't know the area. Would definitely stay here again if we were in Cheshire.
