Very welcoming Staff! Picturesque location with views of the Atlantic from our room! Spa facilities were great too. Salt water swimming pool is warm and comfortable to swim in, as well as the use of the sauna and steam room, there are some nice walking spots around the property too and coral beaches only a 10 min drive away. Would highly recommend to anyone passing or driving the coastal route to/from Clifden to stop by as you won’t be disappointed!

It has been about 8 months since I stayed at the Screebe in the priciest seaview room. This place could be better. The most unpleasant experience was that our room washcloths were "made" by cutting old towels down to size with two sides of the cloth just frayed. It was very odd, but it seemed wrong. I saw a maid working in another room wash out and hand dry a drinking glass with one of the hand towels. The hardware for the shower was broken... feeble would be a better word. We stayed in March and it took several tries to get heat sent to the room on the first night. The coffee service is in a hallway landing and it is a very loud Keurig machine, so we got to hear everyone making coffee in the morning. The spa towels were tired, brown, with the embroidered girdles shrinking signifying their age. The hot tub was nice, but its all hands-on to remove the cover. Not something that a senior person can do alone. Lastly the dinner was superb on both evenings, but the breakfast was inconsistent and on both days, my order which was to be two eggs was just one... the smaller of the options. the buffet meat looked a little bit like it came from a LIDL packet of meats and wasn't exactly abundant (which is ok considering the small number served), and all the plates were from Ikea... a place like this speaks to more authenticity. The staff was very amiable though. All that I mention are easily improved. Otherwise excellent place.

Have to say our booking was last minute due to lack of availability in Galway, but SO glad we did it! Ursula, the owner was amazing! We got in late, we were tired and frazzled, but she managed to get us settled and made to feel welcomed & comfortable immediately! Would highly recommend!

The Screebe!
A joyous experience with a wonderful staff. Stayed in Room 4 and the history made it that much more interesting. We will surely book again on our next adventures to Ireland.

We booked a suite for a two night stay thinking it would probably have a view of the sea, but no just overlooked the swimming pool roof. A notice on the room wall advisers to keep the bedroom windows shut due to midges but rather than put up notices it would have been preferable to install insect screens especially as there's no air conditioning. The emperor sized bed was overly soft and two single duvets kept falling off. It was explained that in Germany two single duvets on a double bed are the norm !! Very uncomfortable sleep. Despite being a suite, there was no television or charging point for a razor/shaver. Evening meal and breakfast most enjoyable.

Our stay at Screebe House was incredible. The staff were warm and welcoming, the property, gardens, and estate I would describe as elevated classic country house style with hunting and fishing themes. The house is situated on the water near the Connemara area with views of the swans and lovely landscape. The restaurant and bar provided a 5 star and personal service experience. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional! Although all of the other guests were adults, my 13 year old daughter was provided with attentive service and consideration for her needs during our stay. The beds and duvets were dreamy. The pool and spa experience were included with our stay. This was one of our highlight stays while on a 2 week driving trip in Ireland. I cannot recommend Screebe House enough.

Wow! Pretty much the best place I’ve ever stayed! If you want to stay in a ten room cottage on the water in the Irish country side where you can warm by a fire while eating a five star dinner than this is for you. The room looked like it was out of Bridgerton. Julian, the restaurant manager, made us feel like family and I hope to keep coming back

We were in a ground floor bedroom and the staff had a party and played loud music until 4am! We were not advised this would happen on check in or when we made our booking! The indoor salt water pool is not heated as advertised!!!! The spa / pool area was not cleaned either day that we were there. Wet towels were left everywhere.

Beautiful setting and lovely rooms. Missing some of the finesse that might be expected with a hotel of this kind. For example, a soaking towel left outside the spa for days left an impression of a lack of care. We had to ask the staff for the breakfast specials (French toast with bacon, which was really not very special at all), but the regular breakfast was great. Dinner was also fantastic. It would have been nice to be able to enjoy a post-dinner drink, but downdraft from the chimney filled the reception and drawing room with smoke both evenings, which made that a non-event. Appreciate there are difficulties with resources etc., in these times, but that isn't reflected in prices that guests are expected to pay, and small improvements would go a long way to improving the overall experience.

The staff and owner have been so gracious and kind. I injured me knee a and they helped me with my luggage, provided special help, alerted the staff and made this a great experience. My wife and I were made to feel like royalty! No need to go to Downton Abbey come here!!

Beautiful, private ,heaven on earth . Lovely landscaping, rhododendrons galore , stone walls everywhere. The chef and team do e beautiful job with the cuisine, especially seafood and exquisite Irish lamb . Warm and wonderfully welcoming .

Fantastic Connemara Hotel!
I truly cannot say enough good things about our stay at Screebe House. The host was so fantastic - she upgraded us upon check in because she saw we were a family and was so welcoming and warm. The room was so comfortable, and the location of the hotel is beautiful. We had dinner there as well, and the food and service was great. Everyone was very nice! We would absolutely stay again!

Amazing hotel that feels like home.
As soon as you enter Screebe house you feel at home. Beautifully furnished, it has a very comfortable feel about it and the welcome by the staff couldn’t be warmer. The food - all locally sourced and fresh - is superb, especially the breakfasts! Our room was immaculate, bright, and very comfortable. We had a view over the water which was a stunning. We used the leisure facilities. The pool is lovely with glass all round to make the most of the views. The staff deserve a special mention, Ursula and her team work hard to give you a very special stay. They were the highlight of our time here.

Great landscape
Lovely hotel, extra plus that it's adults only. Rooms need a bit of TLC and definitely block out curtains. Good restaurant with good service altogether. The "spa" needs some extra thought.

Relaxing and scenic get away
We loved this inn and would definitely come back. It is like a little piece of paradise. A little hard to find (our GPS didn't register the name and it really is in the middle of nowhere but that only adds to the charm. Killian warmly greeted us when we arrived and there was a fire burning to warm the air. The only negative for us (seniors) was that our room was on the top floor, but no problem --Killian to the rescue -- and our bags were taken to our room. Food was superb, spa treatments were first rate, room accommodations first class, heated bathroom floors -- we were in heaven. And the view is just beautiful, overlooking the lake -- very scenic.

A gem in beautiful peaceful location.
We had a wonderful two nights at Screebe House and enjoyed every moment. The location is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and serene. The hospitality and the food was of a very high standard. There were comfortable and enticing spaces to relax after a day's sight-seeing in the nearby localities. We left refreshed & relaxed & wishing we could stay longer.

In a word....AMAZING!!!
Attention to detail, accommodation, setting...this is such an outstanding place to spend time. The staff, food, accommodation (including heated bathroom floors) and every aspect of Screebe are six star!
