Due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling now comes with a few additional challenges. Cast your eye over these helpful tips before hopping on your plane to Kent:
- Before booking your flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by checking government and travel websites.
- Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask for identification purposes when asked by a TSA officer.
- You’re no longer required to hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer. Rather, you should position the pass on the reader and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
- One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you’ll need to take it out of your bag for X-ray scanning.
- To minimize handling during the screening process, put items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
- Separate any food you have for screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
