About this property
The Milk House, beautiful dairy cottage, pet friendly and beautiful views
The Milk House is a beautifully refurbished old dairy with wonderful views over our farmland and wood. We were with Holiday Lettings for 14 years and averaged 5 star rating the entire time. It is within a few minutes of Erlestoke woods, the Salisbury Plain & the Erlestoke 18 hole Golf Club. Stonehenge, Bath, Salisbury & Marlborough are all within 30 minutes.
There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with a bathroom next door, very good for the more immobile and at the other end of the cottage is a single bedroom (where, on request, we can put a proper 8th bed up), there is a toilet and basin in the next room. Upstairs is a twin room and a double room with a family bathroom in between, which has a beautiful antique roll top bath. All the bedrooms can fit in a cot (or two) or the 8th proper bed, depending on your group, We have furnished the Milk House with antique prints, furniture and old photographs of our historic dairy. We have taken a great deal of care to make it supremely comfortable with all the modern conveniences: lighting, fibre optic WiFi, playstations and everything you could need in a modern kitchen to cook and to entertain yet with a traditional touch.
There are many different walks to do directly from the house. We are next to the Salisbury Plain, the largest area of unspoilt chalk land in Europe. Erlestoke Woods are even closer and no one can miss the carpet of bluebells every spring. We have our own huge vegetable patch, orchard with plums, pears, and apples where you can pick produce and flowers in season right by the cottage. The house and buildings were built in the 18th century, and our wood was where the original saxon settlement here was founded, with coins still being found very recently by our neighbours. We are in idyllic surroundings with wonderful views over the edge of the Salisbury Plain. There is so much to do nearby yet it is lovely enough to just relax and do as much or as little as you want.
Getting here – The Milk House is 1.5 hours by car from Heathrow airport and 1 hr from Bristol Airport and 1.5 hrs from the ferries at Poole and Portsmouth. It is on the outskirts of the village of Erlestoke and a few minutes walk from the wonderful Salisbury Plain. Stonehenge, Bath, Salisbury and Marlborough are all within 30 minutes. About the area – Erlestoke is a beautiful village with local shops and pubs within a few minutes drive. The Salisbury Plain is very close and Erlestoke woods, famous for its November bonfire night and spring bluebells. Devizes is an historic market town 7 miles away with a colourful medieval past. The town enjoys a rich heritage of fine Georgian houses and a 19th century castle built on the site of a Norman stronghold. Devizes has boasted a castle for a thousand years. A fascinating Medieval Trail leaflet chronicles this and takes the visitor around the town to points of interest. The Wiltshire Heritage Museum, is home to outstanding collections tracing the history of Wiltshire. Wiltshire has so many attactions. The mighty standing stones of Avebury and Stonehenge are within 20 minutes; the medieval city of Salisbury with its magnificent Cathedral is within half an hour, and the cosmopolitan city of Bath is about 30 minutes away. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park is 20 minutes away and Stourhead with its wonderful gardens very close to that. There are many National Trust properties to go and visit, with dozens of historical Houses, Castles and gardens within 40 minutes. With over 6,000 years of history Wiltshire has attractions galore. Almost half of the county designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Wiltshire has over 8,200 paths for walkers and cyclists. You’ll also find plenty of tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as interestingly different festivals and events throughout the year.

The property was really clean, comfortable and had everything you need for a family. Our granddaughter loved the toys and we had a wander around the gardens to see the chickens and sheep.Carol was on hand to help us and was very friendly. We had a wonderful stay.
Wouldn’t have missed our stay at The Milk House for the world! Lovely homely place, with all amenities and plenty of room to accommodate our family of eight. It was my daughter’s 60th birthday and the house enabled her, her children and grandchildren to gather and enjoy one another, as well as visitors to come in the afternoon. Our host was delightful and made us very welcome. We will certainly book again.
Fully equipped, lovely home from home. Enjoyed the log fire, everything provided for us with an easy check in and lovely host. Beautiful walk up to the private forest. Short drives to Devizes for shopping and food. Would absolutely stay again
We really enjoyed our stay at the milk house, Rebecca was really helpful upon check inn. The property was a great base for us to use, we visited the canal locks and longleat and they were all within a small drive. The wood burner was easy to use and made for a lovely cosy evening. The kitchen was well stocked for all 6 of us to cook with ease and enjoy a nice meal around the dining table. Thank you again for Letting us enjoy the milk house.
The Milk House completely exceeded my expectations. It is a beautiful cottage in an idyllic location, ideal for scenic walks. The interior is beautifully decorated and designed. I highly recommend this property.
We had a super stay. Loved the cottage, the location, the vibe and Becca was a fantastic host. She'd recommended Harlee's fish and chips in Westbury, after doing research!, and they were delicious. The cottage was well equiped with everything we needed and the configuration worked really well, especially the downstairs bedroom/bathroom for my elderly mother. We'd highly recommend this property and stay again.
The Milk House is amazing! Situated on a farm with great views of the fields and woods, Also a great outdoor area in the orchard to BBQ in. Very comfortable accommodation with spacious kitchen for entertaining our large family. Plenty of parking space too. Rebecca is a fabulous host, friendly and great to communicate with. She recommended day trips to local attractions and printed a map with walking routes. We all enjoyed our stay and hope to return. We highly recommend The Milk House.
Amazing property in a beautiful location. Easy check-in and host always replied to any queries we had promptly. Accommodation was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Rebecca the host was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, even gave us fresh eggs from her chickens. Which the children loved. Beautiful orchard garden in a lovely rural area. Highly recommend this property.
Loved the location and very grateful for availability and welcome at short notice. Well equipped kitchen (appreciated!) and peaceful orchard outside back door. Only practical issue was single shower - needed to co-ordinate use in a full house. Look forward to returning. Three Daggers pub brilliant location: pub / farm Shop coffee / kids playground.
We booked a 5 night stay at The Milk House, as it was an ideal location to meet up with our grown up children living in Bristol and Tidworth. The location was easy to find, and in such a lovely, peaceful village - we relaxed immediately. We had a small problem on arrival (not the hosts' fault) but Becca went above and beyond to fix the issue and it did not impact our stay at all. We didn't do much sight seeing, as it was really a trip to get together and enjoy a family catch up, and thanks to this lovely property, we did exactly that! (More reason to return as I would like to visit Stonehenge which is only a 20 minute drive away). Excellent walks for our spaniel straight out of the property. The local village pub is currently closed, so we visited The Three Daggers at Edington (3 times!), it's a short drive away, and a really great pub with excellent food and even has a farm shop and cafe. Becca was a lovely host, so welcoming and friendly and we would have no hesitation in recommending you to stay here, we will definitely be returning in the future.
We found this beautiful property just perfect for ourselves and dogs for a lovely little break away wonderful walks nearby and everything you could want and need.
This was a perfect place for a family get together, we had everything we needed for our stay, the communication from the host was brilliant, would definitely stay again
The house was lovely, beautifully furnished and well equipped. I cooked dinner for 10 on Xmas day and there was enough pots, pans and plates to do everything. Bec was great to deal with and responded really quickly to any queries. We would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic holiday in a wonderful location We spent a week here with extended family and had a fabulous time. The house was perfect for our requirements, lovely clean bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms with lots of flexibility for 2 families. The garden and location overall was spot on, private garden with lots of accessible spaces. Close to loads of attractions and great pubs nearby. We would love to return.
Don't hesitate to book The Milk House, even better than the photos! Had such a fabulous long weekend here, extremely comfortable with lots of space for our party of 5. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom was just perfect for friend with limited disability. Such a homely feel and lots to explore in the area. Wish we could have stayed longer. Our wonderful host made us so very welcome and even gifted us some eggs from her hens. Thank you Beccca! We hope to return!
A busy weekend for a family wedding, but The Milk House was the perfect place to come back to and rest. Very relaxing and peaceful. Property was absolutely stunning our host, Rebecca was so so lovely and couldnt have been more welcoming. We will 100% be coming back for another family weekend soon.
Our host Rebecca was quick to respond to any queries plus was very accommodating. The Milk House was extremely comfortable and decorated in style. We were a party of 5 adults and 3 children which accommodated us perfectly with plenty of room plus we had the use of a woodburner which was nice for the chillier evenings. Also there was provision of some nice toys which was beneficial. The Milk House is surrounded by beautiful countryside and positioned ideally for a visit to Longleat which we visited to see the Christmas lights. We will definitely be paying another visit in the future.
