This is a quaint place. The stairs are a little tricky with luggage but the room was delightful. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a great stay and we would definitely come back.

What a cozy, unique, and magical place it is. Clean, comfortable, quiet, and easy to find. The staff is super friendly. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful country pub/inn
Lovely small pub/inn. Check in/out was effortless with electronic access. Ideal for us with a couple of small dogs. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Definitely recommend

Good location
The location is the Hotel's biggest selling point as it is so close to the Dover Castle and the White Cliffs. The room was ok for a "base" but would not recommend it for a long stay. The food served was excellent.

Lumpy mattress,no hot food Mon-Tuesdays, no TV in the room, no desk in the room to work at, breakfast served at 8-9, not good if you’re working.

We chose to stay at the Royal Oak prior to our cruise. The hotel is situated away from the city centre in a quiet residential area steeped in history a short cab ride or 40 min walk to town. The staff exceeded our expectations with their kindness and hospitality. The pub downstairs frequented by locals and travellers was a lot of fun to have a pint, meal and watch a football match. The room met our requirements only the unseasonably warm weather made it more challenging, thankfully a fan was provided in the room. Complimentary breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

Arrived on a Tuesday to find the kitchen was closed but thankfully you could do me a Pizza. My room was lovely but would benefit from a new mattresses and a tv would be a welcome addition. None of the above detracts from it being a lively cosy little pub and i would happily stay again.

Very pleasant and helpful, we arrived earlier than the assigned check-in and Heidi was very helpful and let us leave our bags so we could venture out for the afternoon. Highly recommend, and also the pub down stairs.

This quirky pub/hotel was fun to stay at. Just getting to our room was a journey up and down different steps and through open spaces. I should have filmed it. Ha. My friend and I had traveled from London after the disaster that was the coronation and trying to see the screens in Hyde Park. We were happy to be able to kick back and watch the recap of it...oh wait, we couldn't. There was no TV in the room. That is the ONLY downside to this place. Not the biggest deal, but we really did want to see the highlights of the event. The restaurant downstairs was cozy and convenient. The food was really good (try the garlic mushrooms!). Breakfast the next morning was included. We thought it was just the basic cereal and yogurt offering, but no, there was a little menu we could order from without charge. It was delicious and so much food. Parking might be an issue here as well since the lot is very small, but we managed to squeeze our little rental car into a spot. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay near Dover but not pay the Dover hotel prices. Everyone was friendly and took great care of us.

The individuality of the room design. The quality of fixtures and fittings. The total peace and quiet. The only downside was the need to go out for dinner because they don't serve food on Sunday evening at present

Not disabled friendly!
The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. What I wasn’t aware of is the flight of steep stairs to the first floor that my dogs couldn’t get up and down and myself and my son struggled especially with dogs and luggage! Easy to access the room after closing.

Das Zimmer und das Badezimmer waren hervorragend aber die Treppe ist wirklich steil. Frühstücksauswahl ist begrenzt. Es ist halt Wohngebiet. Die Lokalitäten sind begrenzt aber die Pizza im Pub sehr empfehlenswert.

Un sitio pequeño, pero encantador
Tuvimos que pasar una noche en Dover debido a la huelga en el Eurotúnel, y afortunadamente él buscador nos trajo a este sitio encantador. Ambiente cálido, hotel muy moderno, la habitación es pequeñita pero tiene todo lo necesario. Hay aparcamiento en la misma puerta, incluso con cargador para coches eléctricos, y la zona es muy bonita. Además, pudimos quedarnos a dormir con nuestra perrita. Absolutamente recomendable si no vas a estar más de una o dos noches.
