About this property
Upscale Yurt on a Private Ranch
This custom yurt is very secluded in the mountains, just 25 miles above Zion National Park in Southern Utah. It is nestled amongst Pine and Quaking Aspen trees on a family owned ranch, where the nearest people are 1000 ft away, down a winding country road. Views of the pink cliffs and mountains from the 12 x 40 ft deck are spectacular. After a day in the nearby National Parks, retreat to your own slice of heaven and enjoy the cool evening breeze, the amazing views and the wildlife that live there.
The yurt was hand built by the owners, with much of the lumber sourced and milled right on the ranch, from trees that were killed by the pine beetle. It is completely off the utility grid and powered by the sun with a green energy solar system that allows for all the comforts of home. The yurt includes: Master bedroom with a king bed Queen pull down murphy bed in the family room Two full beds in the loft and two more roll out pads for kids. 2 sofa sleepers Bathroom with toilet, bidet, spacious shower, plenty of towels and wash cloths. Full kitchen with all cooking utensils and spices. Just bring your food. Spring water, right out of the tap. 50 inch Smart LCD TV, Free Wi-Fi Sleeps 8 adults, more if some are children.
Because of the cool days there is no need for air conditioning, On warmer days the yurt has screen doors and a dome that opens to allow heat to escape. For the cool nights, close the dome and turn on the propane heater or the wood stove for a warm and cozy evening. The yurt also as a fire pit with Adirondack chairs.
Guests like the unique feel of the yurt, but they soon fall in love with its location, with its views, the wildlife and total seclusion.

This was our second stay in the yurt two years in a row. We were there in 2022 in the fall and went again at the same time because our first trip was perfect. This year didn't disappoint us. The yurt is equipped with everything we need and we pack in our groceries due to the ranch's remote location. The yurt is just right for us and our dogs, especially the deck and the view of the pink cliffs. The location is so beautiful, close to Navajo Lake and other attractions and so quiet. The owner communicated very well also.
We stayed here for a long weekend. My family and I loved the yurt and surrounding area. It was very relaxing and comfortable. I have already recommended this rental to several family members!
What a special place! The yurt was so new and clean- with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Placed in a really private location so you can just chill in nature or take off to the national parks. Though once you see how busy the park are it make you just want to stay in the yurt all the more!
What a fantastic Yurt! It’s way out there, but if quiet and solitude is what you are looking for with a touch of class, this is it.
7 miles out a dirt road, but the road is in great shape. You’ll share the property with deer and geese and cows and horses.
Amazing stay. Great Yurt.
We wanted to stay somewhere without a lot of people and this is it!! Only souls we saw were deers. Great deck to hangout and play games with new and comfy patio furniture. Awesome trail right behind the yurt. Everything in the yurt worked great!! No complaints. Will be booking again!!
This was exactly what we were looking for..... most of the comforts of home without anyone around. Get ready for some dirty roads (if you are in the area you should probably have a 4x4 anyway) and the come with all the food you might want/need as it is about 40 min to the nearest town but we also knew all of that coming in which is why we booked it. The king bed is extremely comfortable, huge fire pit for those willing to brave the incendiary conditions in the area this time of year and overall excellent property. We brought slippers so we didn't track dust into the yurt (owners ask you to take your shoes off, and you will want to anyway). We will definitely stay again when our travels take us to southern UT.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, this place is for you. Each morning and evening we watched deer, turkeys, cows, horses and chipmunks roaming the property. The fire pit is perfect on a cool night, roasting marshmallows and only hearing the sounds of crackling firewood. The only downside to this yurt is the location. You have to drive about 7 miles down a rough gravel/dirt road. It took us 30 minutes each way to get down the road. Once you’re off of the road, Navajo Lake, Duck Creek, Cascade Falls, and Cedar Breaks is only a short drive. We enjoyed our time away from the heat and fast pace of Las Vegas.
Beautifully constructed with thoughtful and nice finishing work. Amenities were a luxury for a yurt way off the grid, but not over the top. Well equipped kitchen, aspen-shaded deck, comfortable bed, views of the classic utah-red cliffs up the hill, secluded and peaceful location, bbq; really great spot to spend a few nights.
There's a small ranch down the hill a few hundred yards off so you might hear the occasional cow/horse/goose, but it's out of view and largely out of mind. Nearest store is the general store 30ish minutes away in Duck Creek Village, which has your basics (marshmallows, apples, hotdogs, great Utah ribeye), but you'll probably want to grab your vegetables at a larger store in Cedar City (~1 hr drive).
Dogs loved it, we loved it.
We loved it and didn't want to leave. Beautiful area, and we timed it perfectly for the fall colors. It was so peaceful, and we never saw another soul except deer. The location is close to other great attractions like Cascade Falls and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Also our dogs were in heaven and would probably prefer to live there.
Normally you rent a cabin in the mountains and expect to rough it a little. The yurt was amazing and glamping at its best! The views of the distant mountains in front and red rock formations in back surround the yurt in Mother Natures finest. It’s a little piece of heaven. It was built with care and is maintained with that same care. I can’t wait to return.
Luxury in nature. We are somewhat luxury end travelers and this experience was more than we could’ve hoped for. It was awesome to cook over the outside fires and inside fires for heating. This is solitude and just natures beauty. It was an absolute joy for three nights and the facility was more than top notch.
Brought my family and dogs to stay and I really wanted something secluded where they could all run free. This property was an absolute dream. The area is breathtaking and the yurt had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Really comfy beds too! Could not be happier with this rental. Thank you!!!
Our stay in this yurt was one of my family’s favorite getaways so far. We love the outdoors and this place was the perfect spot for the outstanding views and wildlife sightings. The yurt was very clean and had all of the amenities to make the stay very enjoyable. Easy check in/out process with great communication from the owner. Will definitely stay again, hopefully soon.
If you are looking for something remote, look no further!
I really can't say enough great things about this location. Brad was SUPER responsive and very helpful with information.
The location was PERFECT if you are looking for something super remote to get away from it all and unwind, yet have the most modern amenities at your disposal!
I did overestimate the size a bit and would say this location is ideal for up to 4. Anymore, it might start feeling a bit crowded if the outdoors are not readily accessible. (Rained a good portion of the time) Even so, it was still such a great and relaxing spot. We roasted marshmallows, checked out a few trails nearby, and chased after my dog who wanted to go introduce herself to the deer that come out in the morning.
Instructions to getting there can be a bit intimidating at first, but once you figure it out it's pretty straightforward. Due to the road being unpaved and going slower 5-15 mph, it can feel like a long drive to go a few miles, but I promise if you keep going you'll get there!
Also, to those who claim 4-wheel drive is needed. It's not at all. (obviously, based on weather conditions. If you are driving through a canyon with flood-like rainfall or snow, well... That's just a given.) Most of the road leading down is dirt with little to no rocks, with a few sections that are much rockier, but mostly small rocks that don't require any sort of high clearance or special tires. (Wouldn't suggest bringing your lowered Impala...)
Oh! One last thing - I haven't been camping or stayed remote for quite some time, so wasn't fully prepared. While this location offers almost everything you need from a convenience aspect, make sure you plan your meals and bring what's needed accordingly. We, unfortunately, did not and while the closest shop is about 40 minutes away, its selection is small, and that time is much better spent enjoying your stay!
This is easily one of my top favorite places to stay and hope to make a trip back soon!
We had a wonderful time! The yurt was perfect place and location Brad was a great host quickly responded to any question
We will definitely be staying there again
This is the second time I have stayed here and we loved every minute of it! The fall weather is lovely, and the wood stove kept the yurt nice and cozy all day long! There also was a new hammock that wasn't there this summer. Can't say enough nice things about this place!!
The property is on the top of a mountain, and the view is beautiful. The yurt is clean and so nice. We loved it. All questions were answered quickly by the owner. We will be back!!
Out of the way, in the woods, amazing yurt. We saw a herd of turkeys out our kitchen door and deer grazed nearby too. Spectacular accommodations! Best way to celebrate 45 years of marriage.
Thank you Brad for the welcome gifts. My kids thought the slippers and s’mores were cool. We had an amazing time staying in the yurt. Cozy, comfortable and remote was exactly what we wanted. The hiking and wildlife were awesome and we would definitely stay again.
My teenage children and I really enjoyed staying at the yurt. We wanted a place to escape the city and enjoy the nature and Brad's yurt in an aspen grove definitely fit the bill. We got to see wild turkeys, deer, many different birds and fed and pet the friendly horses. The yurt had all the comfort of a home and was very clean. Even though off the beaten path, we plan to visit again.
Our family enjoys staying in VRBO rental properties when we are on vacation and we can truly say that this is one of the best and most unique properties we have experienced!
We used the property as a home base to visit nearby national parks, rather than stay in one of the many rentals available in Kanab. Though this meant a little more driving every day, it was well worth it! When we visited, the temperatures in the national parks reached 110 degrees. We were very thankful to return to the mountain property where the high was only 85 and the cool evening temperatures were a welcome respite.
The owner was very responsive to all communication and, when a burn ban went into effect shortly before our visit, even went so far as to order and deliver a special fire pit for the deck.
If you are looking for a comfortable but unique retreat in a beautiful setting, this is the place for you! If you are looking for a home base to visit sites in the area and don't mind a little extra driving, then this is also the place for you! It far exceeded our expectations!
