Rivers Edge Retreat is a private oasis located on the Withlacoochie river in citrus county florida. Great location to enjoy all the nature coast has to offer. Short distance to Ocala, Inverness, Homosassa Springs, Crystal River, and Dunnellon. Come and experience swimming with the manatees, tubing down the Rainbow River, scalloping in Homosassa and Crystal River, fishing on the withlacoochie and lake rousa., biking hiking, kayaking on the rivers, horseback riding, and Golfing. So much to do or just do nothing at all but enjoy and relax. My home offers you the perfect place to enjoy the privacy, sitting on the dock or in the screen room enjoying all of nature. You can bring your own boat and tie up to the dock or enjoy the use of two single kayaks one double kayak paddle boat or canoe available for free. I also provide two adult bikes and two childrens bikes for your enjoyment. At night you can sit around the fire pit and listen to nature sing. Grill your catch of the day on the provided gas grill and eat on the deck under the stars. The backyard is completely fenced and has two beautiful old oaks with huge staghorn ferns offering you plenty of shade. If you want some family fun try your skill at corn hole. There are many bird feeders so you can enjoy watching many varieties of birds as they come and go. If you choose to take day trips we are located close to Orlando with all of it's attractions and Tampa which is home to Bush Gardens. If you love to eat out our area offers some of the finest seafood in Florida. We have numerous festivals throughout the year celebrating our pioneer and Indian history and seafood festivals allowing you to taste all the local foods. I love this area of Florida for it's beauty and laid back lifestyle. So come and enjoy, relax, unwind, in what Florida once looked like.

Peaceful Getaway

My husband and I wanted a quiet, peaceful atmosphere where we could bring our two dogs and just experience nature. The yard was fenced so we felt comfortable letting the dogs out and being able to go out your back door and kayak down the river was wonderful! It was close enough to local places to eat and to Rainbow River State Park. Overall, very nice stay and would definitely go back.

Nice House & Location

This was our second and again had a wonderful time. We really like the location since it allowed us to do plenty of hiking, biking and kayaking. The house has everything you need to enjoy you stay!

River House retreat

Property has many amazing features and we especially enjoyed the access to the river using the supplied kayaks and the outdoor screened gazebo. The neighbors and all the people we ran into in the neighborhood are very friendly. It was a great location for us and perfectly centered between Dunnellon and Ocala.

Short Getaway to visit Rainbow Spring

Clean and comfy! Very close to out main destination, Rainbow Spring. My boys fished in the backyard and enjoyed using the peddle boat. Would definitely stay again.

House on the Withlacoochee River

Comfortable house on the river. Nice outside area for relaxing. Convenient to town and stores. We enjoyed walking at Blue Run Park of Dunnellon. Very close to Rainbow Springs State Park.

Perfect experience

The house was clean and stocked with useful amenities. My family enjoyed having access to the kayaks and canoe and went down the river many times. We appreciated the information the host provided on area hiking, springs, and restaurants.

Great spot, great stay.

The neighborhood was fantastic full of friendly people. The house was clean, in a perfect location. The deck was great, the screen house we used a lot. We used the kayaks. We brought paddleboards and were so happy that we could just put in and go up and down river. The decor in the house was the best ever! Perfection, really.

Total peace

I absolutely love this property! This is the second time we have stayed here and we will absolutely be back asap! We live in Tampa and this place is the perfect getaway from the busy city life. The yard is fenced in and my dogs have so much fun. I especially like the fact that you have to go through a gate to get to the water so I don’t have to stress about the dogs. Great getaway spot

This is the second time we have stayed there. We will definitely be back. This is a quaint, cozy spot on the Withlacoochee river. Great fishing. The canoe, paddleboat and kayak are a bonus. The house is clean and the master bed is very comfortable. House is well stocked with anything you might need. Donna is a great host.

Great place to enjoy the rivers

We like this house very much. It is comfortable, well decorated & well maintained. This was our second stay. It is in a quiet neighborhood close to Dunellon & the parks. We especially love that the house includes the use of kayaks and canoes. We love to be able to get on the water everyday.

River Retreat

We had a wonderful stay @ this "River Retreat"! Weather was a little chilly but we managed to keep ourselves occupied for the week. Hiking & Biking on the local trails was convenient and enjoyable. On our last day it finally warmed up enough to use the provided Kayaks.

Quick Summer Vacay

This was the perfect getaway we needed. Had a chance to go to a beach and had tons of time kayaking on the river. My husband and daughter enjoyed fishing off the deck each evening. Very quiet neighborhood and close to a lot of local shops and places to eat. Definitely recommend for future stays. Donna was also great and easy to reach. Thanks again!

Anniversary Advneture #11!

It was one of our best vacations! We wanted to be as close as nature as possible, and we got it! We loved the house and everything it offered! We had so much fun, we will definitely do it again!! We went Kayaking, took a boat tour, and saw a few manatees! We also did the boat tour at Silver Springs State Park! And off course swing at the spring!

Silent Sport Paradise

We love to kayak, bike, fish and hike so this was the perfect place for us. Kayak the beautiful Withlacoochee from your backyard, take the dog over to Johnson’s Pond for a nice walk, hit the Withlacoochee State Trail for awesome biking, wet a line from your dock, or just chill in the private and peaceful backyard. We will definitely be back soon.

Such a blessing

I cannot say enough good things about Donna and her property. We came out the day after hurricane Milton and she was so accommodating she worked with me so much and it meant so much. The house was perfect and the location couldn’t have been more relaxing. We were there during a really hectic time in our lives and it made everything so much easier on us and we made some awesome memories. Thank you Donna! We will be back!

Comfortable home

We enjoyed the home and our pets did, as well. Open, roomy for the 2 of us. Bed comfortable, kitchen fairly well set up. We needed both heat and air in the 3 weeks we were there and all worked well. Due to the cool weather, we weren’t able to take advantage of the kayaks and bikes but all were available as advertised.

River Getaway

The River house was a perfect getaway for us on spring break! We used the house as our home base for exploring Florida’s Nature’s coast including the many state parks that are only a short drive from the house, including the Gulf. We were able to explore springs, find manatees, and use the house’s wonderful amenities like the kayaks, and amazing sitting areas overlooking the river. The host has thought of everything and has set up a very cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating allowing for our small family to have some space and enjoy the sounds and sites of the river while reading, birding, and just relaxing. We were thrilled with the variety of wildlife the river has to offer- including pileated woodpeckers,, turkeys, turtles, fish, and many other bird species. The house was stocked with basic cooking equipment essentials for cooking family meals, and we were able to eat around the beautiful table each night- which when you have teenagers- you know what a gift that is. The beds were comfy, and the entire house was clean. The host was very responsive, though to be honest, we didn’t need much besides confirming the check in time, and to let her know we arrived and all was well with the house. You really should check out the River house if you are looking for a quiet place on the river, that you can be low key and relaxed at, and use it as a jumping off point to explore the Natural Coast. You couldn’t ask for a better host!
