Despite retaining the old pub name, this is now a B&B only, so don't expect a bar or evening meals. The accommodation was good if a little quirky. Our bedroom had polished wood floors rather than carpet, but the beds were comfortable and the location was quiet. Breakfast (continental) is a help yourself arrangement and was fine. In our case, check in was done without the owner being onsite. He texted us the access codes. The bus stop for Carlisle was opposite the front door. We stayed one night while walking Hadrian's wall.

A very clean room and a great bed. Our room was at the top of the hotel and I suppose that was our fault for not asking for a room on the first floor as we both have mobility issues. The breakfast was first class and plentiful and the breakfast staff were very polite and friendly. Hoping to be back next year but will ask for a room on the first floor

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The spacious, clean, and refurbished room with a super comfortable bed was just what we needed. The full English breakfast had generous portions, and every meal was delicious. The staff were excellent, chatty, welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful. The atmosphere was fantastic! We loved every minute and can't wait to stay again. Highly recommended! 朗✨
