Top Eyrarbakki Hotel Reviews

Guesthouse Vatnsholt
10/10 Excellent
"Clean room. Friendly staff. Did not try the breakfast, but it was about $20 USD/person.
I like that they had coffee and tea to go. "

ION Adventure Hotel, Nesjavellir, a Member of Design Hotels
6/10 Okay
"Overall an average hotel really. Based on the reviews and photos we expected a lot more, particularly at that price point.
Due to availability for 4 people we had to book one of the more expensive rooms. Again for that price point you’d expect a nice and quiet room. Ours was right under the reception area which was quiet noisy and for some reason particularly around 10pm.
Rooms clean and good, pool was great with the kids but it looks much bigger on the photos than it actually is.
Breakfast was good, dinner was EXPENSIVE! Definitely milking the remote location. Disappointing that the waitress didn’t tell us that we could also order from the (cheaper) lunch/room service menu.
Some of the staff were amazing particularly with our kids. Others didn’t seem like they wanted to be there.
Overall a good and average but very pricey hotel. Not living up to the hype created on various social posts."

The Greenhouse Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We loved our stay at The Greenhouse Hotel. Parking right outside the door made everything easy, and the complimentary breakfast was fresh, delicious, and such a great way to start the day. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly on‑trend. The whole hotel has this eclectic, fun energy that makes it feel special. After long days of hiking, coming back to the lively food court and bar area was such a treat — so many great dinner options that kept everyone in our group happy. A wonderful stay all around."

Hestheimar
4/10 Poor
"Great location for exploring the southern coast, and the property is clean with beautiful views. Our cabin was sandwiched between the communal parking lot out front and an active construction site out back, complete with exposed septic infrastructure and loose wiring. The construction lights also impacted stargazing and northern lights viewing. The advertised hot tub turned out to be communal, attached to the reception building, and far enough from the cabins that you need to drive there. WiFi was weak in the cabin.
The accommodation felt tired and cramped for a family of five. Mattresses were uncomfortable, and supplies were stingy: two toilet paper rolls for five people over four nights, and no shampoo or conditioner, just body wash. Every other place we stayed in Iceland covered the basics. Extra-fee signage throughout added to a transactional feel.
The breakfast is marketed as a highlight (and priced at around $100 for five). Ours wasn’t. Tomatoes and cucumbers were past their best, bacon was undercooked and fatty, fruit was unripe, and the muffins tasted off enough that the kids each tried one and stopped. We’d had a nearly identical spread at Efstidalur that was genuinely our favorite breakfast in Iceland. Go there instead.
We left after one night of a four-night stay. The front desk comped the breakfast, which was kind. A partial refund for unused nights would have gone further, but wasn’t offered."

Frost and Fire Boutique Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was clean and quiet. "

Bakki Hostel and Apartments
10/10 Excellent
"Spacious comfort apartment in a quiet and peaceful location. Only a short drive (10-15 minutes) to Selfoss for supermarkets, restaurants, petrol station etc. The apartment made for a comfortable base to explore much of southern Iceland. Johan was incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much."

Hotel Eldhestar

"We enjoyed our stay along with the meals (complimentary breakfast). Everything was comfortable and the staff were helpful with road and weather conditions. We also rode the horses, which was very enjoyable. "
