St Andrew's church viewed from the northeast. Quite often the sunny side of a church is also its 'prettier' side but in this case the north elevation is even grander than the south. This is also the view which presents itself from The Street. St Andrew's church was completely rebuilt in 1859 by the architect Robert Kerr and it is one of the finest 19th century churches in East Anglia. It stands on the site of a round-tower church which had fallen into ruin. With the exception of the minaret-like tower which is offset on the north and built of stone, the building material used was flint. The interior is entirely 19th century also, most of the stained glass windows are by Hardman & Co. This church is kept open every day. Room was amazing, some areas were dusty such as the lounge corner next to the wall. Food was delicious but the choices without paying extra supplement were limited, when we stayed last time in January there wasn’t any additional supplements and the menu choices were more appealing.
