My partner and I had such an amazing time at Sansuiso. Staff was polite, kind, and did their best to provide an unforgettable experience. True professionals and masters in hospitality.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature (if you don’t have a car then it takes a couple of hours to see the local sights).
The rooms are traditional with great views, and super authentic.
The set dinners and breakfasts are the best I’ve had, and were something to look forward to.
There is a selection of onsens including the opportunity to hire private ones for those who aren’t confident of sharing more public pools.
A highlight of the trip so far
If you decide to stay at Sansuiso, you have made the right decision. This is a beautiful onsen, with a variety of different type of waters, pools on the edge of the river.
We stayed in the Japanese room which is always spacious and comfortable.
Do yourself a favour and do the half board (or dinner) it will be one of the best meals you may have ever eaten.
The staff is so friendly and helpful.
Five star experience all the way! The room was large and immaculate. The staff even set out the bedding for us while we were out at dinner. The hotel had not just one, not just two, but three fully separate onsen areas! Each had multiple baths and each had at an outdoor bath too! The dinner was fabulous. It’s a chef’s choice dinner so there are no choices or substitutions but high quality throughout.
The only negative is the hotel is in the middle of nowhere but that’s not unusual for these onsen towns.
