Service very limited in this part of resort which is made of 3 hotels. Very clean, great breakfast with plenty of choice. Beautiful resort all in all, good facilities, older. but very well looked after.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 7night stay at The Residence (30/8/25-5/9/25) and would definitely recommend. The apartment was modern, clean, very roomy, bedroom, 2 bathrooms, lounge area, dining area, a very well equipped kitchen and balcony. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The gardens and pool area were absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The hotel complex is huge and has everything you could possibly want or need but it is very easy to get disorientated and lost! Madeira is a beautiful island we would definitely like to return.

Immaculately kept residence in a very good area with excellent transport links into Funchal centre. Very friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and have great views. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the waiting staff were helpful and pleasant and the main pool and pool areas were spacious with plenty of sun beds available. Very enjoyable stay and we would love to return one day in the near future.

We had a really nice view from our room of the beach below. The room was spacious and very clean. For me the bed was not very comfortable as I am a side sleeper and the mattress was fairly hard. It wasn’t really close to old town, so we had to get transportation back and forth.

A great place to stay

The hotel and pool areas were exceptional. The breakfast offered a wide choice and the seating areas were delightful. The staff were We were upgraded to an apartment for our stay and although the accommodation was spacious and comfortable, the room was dark and the balcony was opposite a road which could be noisy at times. Having said that, I would still recommend this hotel as a great place to stay but in our experience the accommodation upgrade was at the expense of the location of the room.

Our return to Madeira was well worth the wait.

It was excellent. The location, staff friendliness and efficiency was of the higher order. The buffet breakfast and dinner was fantastic the like of which we have not seen before.

Excellent and relaxing.

With the "bang for the bucks" place to stay at, we can only recommend you to stay at the Residence. Accommodations, pool area as well as the restaurants are excellent. Family with kids will have a nice week by the poolside, but dont expect kids playground/activities. Evening entertainment feelt old and dated for us (mid 40s of age), possibly aimed for the +65. We surely will be back at this premises again soon.

Beautiful, beautiful hotel, lovely gardens and facilities. Room was well equipped with everything we could need including spare towels for pool/spa. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a room facing the road which was noisy but it was changed with no fuss to quiet inward facing. Fantastic choice and quality of breakfast. Half hour walk into Funchal which we preferred to irregular bus service. Large supermarket close by if needed.

My husband and I had a great stay at The Residence. The breakfast buffet was vast and delicious. The property is beautiful to walk around. Although you cannot access the ocean from the property, the views are amazing and you can easily access the water nearby. Lots of beautiful walking areas nearby as well as restaurants. The hotel pools were lovely as were the restaurants and free entertainment. The staff was helpful and the facility was immaculate. Our room had a beautiful room, was clean and comfortable amd had amazing water pressure. We would definitely return.
