Galicia Holiday Packages

In the north of Spain is a region of great scenic beauty that is known for its historic buildings and one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Catholics.

Galicia is in Green Spain, a part of the country that is considered to hold some of its greatest natural treasures. Amid a scenic wonderland of mountains, forests and coastline are towns and cities rich with cultural heritage. See relics of the Roman era, travel along part of an ancient pilgrim route and go trekking in natural parks.

There is much for nature lovers to discover during a visit to Galicia. Walk along the trails of Monte Aloia Nature Park or embark on a multiday trek through the Serra da Enciña da Lastra Nature Reserve, a mountain range encompassing valleys and woodland areas. Explore the Fragas Do Eume Natural Park, a Neolithic Atlantic forest, or sit on a Galician beach to bask under the sun's rays.

The capital of Galicia, and one of its main attractions, is Santiago de Compostela. The city is the final destination of the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route that originated in the 9th century. The trail ends at the magnificent Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, the final resting place of St. James, an apostle of Jesus. The building is one of many ancient structures that constitute the city's old town, which has been recognised as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its ancient streets to see other historic sites, such as the Casa da Parra, a Baroque building from the 17th century.

Continue your tour of Galicia’s historic sites with a visit to some of the surrounding towns and cities. In La Coruña, climb the Tower of Hercules, which is said to be the oldest lighthouse in the world still in use, dating back as far as Roman times. Travel to Lugo for its original Roman wall.

While in Galicia be sure to visit some of its lesser-known towns and villages. See the Celtic ruins at Barona and relax in the thermal spa waters of Cuntis.

To get to Galicia, fly into the international airports at Santiago, La Coruña and Vigo before renting a car or travelling by bus or rail to see the region’s ancient buildings, superb beaches and diverse landscape.
