The whole stay was wonderful. The train car was amazing and very comfortable to hangout in. The muffins were delicious. The host was very easy to get in touch with and always helpful and kind.
We had an amazing time, relaxing and spending time with friends and family. The kids had a blast walking around the train station at night. David and Chris were helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend staying on the train!
I loved this trip! Staying on this train was such a memory to make! My grandchildren loved it and so did we! It will be something to remember always! It was so clean and inviting and everyone was so nice! If I could afford it I would stay again!!
We stayed here the night before our cruise staff was super accommodating and helpful. The location was cool the only issue we had is the bunks are kinda had and worried some of our party was concerned. Not the establishment fault.our people were skiddish
What a fantastic weekend get-a-way! Celebrating a 5th grade promotion, a 53yr anniversary and an 18yr anniversary, this was perfect for our family! David was so kind and helpful. Chris was a huge help and Andrew did a great job sharing information. Core memories made. The train was comfortable and so stinkin cool. What a unique way to celebrate and spend time with family. Highly recommend.
We had a family group of 9 staying the night before our cruise and could not have been happier about our stay!! The team at the museum, especially David and our porter Dennis, we're super welcoming and helpful with information about our stay and nearby dining options. The Bonnie Brook train car was so unique and access to the museum let us get out and stretch our legs. Absolutely recommend this stay and we will likely stay again the next time we're in town.
My family, ranging from 3 - 73, had a wonderful time! The train was fully furnished with everything we needed. The half baths in every bedroom was more than anyone could ask for! The 4 bedrooms allowed everyone privacy. The large seating area in the front was spacious! We had family fun time with everyone being comfortable! Our host, David, was exceptional! He greeted us when we arrived and someone was always available if we needed anything. We were in a fenced in area and our vehicles were close by with free parking. Staying in this rail car is an experience anyone will love! The location at the Strand is an added bonus!
What fun! More room than we expected, great courteous and helpful staff. Interesting look back into rail travel. The grand boys just loved it and, of course, want to come back. The railroad museum is a treasure . Thank you!
I made the reservations for the Bonnie Brook several months ago for Mardi Gras weekend, so we had a long time for the anticipation to build up and we were not disappointed! The 3 grandkids, all under 10, had never experienced a train before, let alone slept on one, and they had a blast. It was right there in the train yard, so we had access to all the trains to explore and the location, right on the Strand, couldn't be more perfect. The kitchen is small and not conducive to much cooking, but we didn't come to cook and the restaurants are all within walking distance. David and Justin were very welcoming and saw to our every need and the King Cake they provided was incredible (David, I need to know where you got it!). Thank you for a very memorable stay!
We really enjoyed our stay, even though it was rainy. Touring around the museum and the various train cars was super fun. The grandkids (ages 4, 6, 7, 9) were over the moon with this 'surprise' overnight stay before we headed to our cruise. The staff were terrific. The pullman car was awesome. We knew it wouldn't be a spotless, newly built hotel room, but this made it all the more exciting to be in a venue from days gone past.
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to sleep on a train back in the good old days? Well, you can do exactly that at the Galveston Train Museum Rail Hotel. My family and I spent the night in the Historic Bonnie Brook Rail Car, a 1949 rail coach once used by Jackie Gleeson. The car has been renovated to serve as a private suite, allowing guests to eat, sleep, and dine like passengers used to do back in the golden era of railroads.Along with modern amenities like Wi-fi internet and a widescreen television, our suite also included complementary bottled water, a basket of muffins prepared by a local bakery, and a bag of saltwater taffy provided by a local confectionary.Best of all, the museum was located in mere walking distance of the downtown area, not only allowing easy access to local shops and eateries, but also to the cruise terminal. My family and I only needed to wake up and walk to our cruise ship.If you always dreamed of sleeping on a train, then this suite is perfect for you and/or your family.
We arrived at the location, and we were greeted by staff and given information and a safety briefing. Justyn was very friendly and helpful. David provided us a written welcome. Very nice touch. The car was a classic built in 1949. We had 5 guests and it was very comfortable for all of us. We had a comfortable night. Nice touch of supplying shampoo and conditioner for each guest. Only thing to keep in mind is that the bedrooms and corridor are narrow and there are some tight spaces. The cars were built at a time when people took a carry-on bag, with the rest of the luggage in the baggage car. Nice to have smaller bags. We were given a nice convenient parking space. This experience reminded me of travelling with my parents and brother on Amtrak when younger. An overall great experience.
Staying on the Bonnie Brooke was a great overall experience. We all enjoyed checking out the trains, exploring downtown and being so close to our cruise ship. The only low point was the air conditioner running all night and lowered the temperature to the 60’s. I contacted the person in charge of maintenance but they didn’t start their shift until 6:00 am. Even though it was cold enough for a polar bear, we had a great time. It was very cool to step back in time and experience what life was like on a rail car.
David and Chris are the best.. Our group consisted of 4 kiddos ages 5-13 and 2 adults had a blast. They already looking forward to returning to the train museum. Awesome experience!!!
We absolutely LOVED this experience! The staff was very helpful and over the top with caring for our every need, from morning muffins to sweet chocolate treats! Absolutely wonderful service and even helped get 11 of us with luggage, get out the door to get on the ship for our cruise. We got to tour the train museum as part of our stay and the lore behind the characters in the train station. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable experience.
Loved the Bonnie Brook. Everything was great. The porter - Chris took excellent care of us. Loved being able to wander around the grounds when the museum was closed. Memorable experience. I would highly recommend
Great hospitality! Kids loved the experience of not only sleeping on the Bonnie Brook but exploring all the other trains at the museum.
Also a great location to downtown and The Strand.
Thanks to David for the hospitality and experience.
