With new COVID-19 safety guidelines to adhere to, travel looks a bit different in this day and age. Here's what you should know before you hop on that plane to Gibson Island:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking anything. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it for identification purposes. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be removed for X-ray scanning.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, place items such as your phone and loose change into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
