Oasis 41

  • Welcome to Oasis 41. Set within the grounds of its own golf club, this stylish lodge offers a relaxing retreat, ideal for golf lovers and those seeking a peaceful waterside setting. On-site facilities include an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and Caldecott Golf Club, which features a clubhouse serving food and drink (available at an additional cost).



    The ground floor hosts all three bedrooms, comprising a bunk room, a king-size bedroom with access to a covered courtyard seating area, and a master bedroom with a super-king-size bed and en-suite shower room. A family shower room and separate WC are also located on this level, providing convenience for all guests. The lodge is of eco-construction with triple glazing and excellent insulation.



    Upstairs, the spacious open-plan living area enjoys lovely views across the lake and golf course. The lounge is comfortably furnished with sofas, armchairs, and a Smart TV, while large windows allow plenty of natural light. The dining area features a modern glass table, and the well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, and an American-style fridge/freezer with ice dispenser. A WC is also located on this floor, with a separate utility room downstairs housing a washing machine.



    Outdoor space is plentiful, with a first-floor balcony for al fresco dining and a relaxing egg chair, as well as a covered veranda on the ground floor. Golfers can enjoy both 18-hole and 9-hole courses, with visitor passes and buggy hire available at an additional cost. The Norfolk Broads are close by, with boat hire available at Saint Olaves (2 miles), while Somerleyton Hall and Gardens is 5 miles away. For seaside outings, Gorleston-on-Sea is 5 miles away and Great Yarmouth is just 7 miles from the lodge.

Disaster

Before we confirmed our booking, Finest Retreats couldn’t have been more helpful. However, when we reported problems, even though most of the people we dealt with continued to be pleasant, little was resolved while we were there. Not much seemed to have been checked before our stay at Oasis 41 – bathroom infested with ants, cobwebs in rooms grimy and dusty, oven with caked-on grease and burnt food, dishwasher not working, waste disposal unit not working and (what seemed to be a long term) leak under sink. Some electrical equipment recorded the last safety testing as being in 2019, and while we were there the main fuse for the lodge tripped. Power was restored while we were out but there was no explanation for the failure or reassurance the system had been made safe. As problems arose we reported them and afterwards I wrote but, so far, there has been no response to my emails so we may be going to court. I'll try to keep you posted. I could go on but you’ll get the idea of the quality and care of monitoring the property we won't be booking through them Finest Retreats again. I understand that this lodge may have already been withdrawn from at least one other website but it still features with Finest Retreats despite them knowing the issues. The lodge needs to be properly inspected before being let and problems remedied before visitors stay. It would be helpful for more effective action to be taken when people report problems during their stay.
