Although not our first visit and stay in Winterton on Sea, it was our first stay at The Cranny. It was great to find everything located so conveniently. Just around the corner from The Cranny, the Fishermans Return is only a few steps away. The local corner shop, the chip shop, Poppys Tea Room (great food) and Post office are all close. It's not too far to drive to the Co-op store if you are looking for a larger place to shop than the local store. The beach is a short walk away, across the dunes, to what I consider to be the best beach in Norfolk. My ten year old Cockapoo loves Winterton beach more than anywhere else. It was lovely to see a few seals bobbing about in the sea most days too. The Cranny itself had all the conveniences of home and the large garden was really lovely, with a couple of paved seating areas. Plenty of room for dogs to safely run around without fear of them escaping. We also visited Wroxham Barns, which is nice if you have young children as there is also a small animal farm within the site. Poppylands, a 1940's tea room, in Horsey, was well worth the visit, decked out with Union Jacks and old war memorabilia. The lunch we had there was very good. Would have loved to stay in Winterton for another week!
