Our room was dark/dingy not what I was promised via email (2 times). We were shown another room but it was not large enough for 4. I specifically asked about views of the room via emails w the property and was assured we’d get the room w windows and views of the sea from a balcony. We didn’t get a room w a balcony. Our jetted tub was filled w debris and insects and we couldn’t even turn it on.
On Wed we woke up to a flooded room after a storm and our luggage and contents got wet. We also lost power for the remainder of our stay. There was no electricity, air conditioning, or hot water. Someone came to fix the electricity twice but we continued to have none. We relayed all of this to the manager who was understanding and who told us there were no other rooms available for us to move to. We had to look for a new hotel.
There were no amenities you’d expect in a 5 star hotel: no tissues, no telephone to call the front desk, and only one trash bin in the toilet room. We learned about the shared lobby only after letting the property manager know we were checking out early. When we saw the lobby, I noticed a much nicer suite that looked more like the room I booked online. At one point the restaurant manager I spoke w on Tues on arrival said that the photos I was sent via email reflect “a combination of many different rooms” which makes no sense for a link that specified and listed amenities along with images: https://www.lamaltese.com/la-maltese-estate/ (Suite w jetted tub).
